1959 125 Corsaro kickstart problems.
Yesterday, the kickstart suddenly failed to engage with the engine. On removing the clutch casing, no fault could be found, and the lot was reassembled. Now, the return spring (which was intact) fails to work, and I can only get limited movement on the cranking process, maximum 90 degrees. It is as ...

Re: Starter problems 3.5 Strada 1978
Your suggestion seems to make sense, Paul. I guess the brushes could be worn/ stuck/dirty, so that when bench tested, the motor appears to be functioning, but when under load on the bike, they are not up to the job. As for the gearbox, what I took to be a filler (not filter) hole - albeit somewhat s...

Starter problems 3.5 Strada 1978
My self-starter suddenly refused to function, just giving a click in the starter relay. Checked all the leads for tightness, and battery condition, then pulled the starter motor off, wouldn't turn over on a slave battery. The gearbox sprocket could only be turned with a wrench, so off it went to a s...

Re: 1959 Corsaro 125
Paul That's a really useful article, thanks. I think that method would be best used on an unrestored tank, Mine, however, has been restored, when it probably acquired that sloshed lining that is now departing. I fear that such corrosive procedures risk damage to paintwork through leakage/ spillage, ...

Re: 1959 Corsaro 125
Thanks, Dave. Managed to get the Corsaro running, though the jetting still leaves something to be desired. NLM advised me to use super unleaded petrol because of the ethanol problem, so I drained the tank, and lo and behold, the tank lining was coming away in large chunks. I really need to clean out...

1959 Corsaro 125
Can't undo the flywheel generator, which revolves clockwise. Logically, the nut would unscrew anti-clockwise, so that it keeps itself tight with the engine running, but NLM tell me that some do up one way, and others the other! Anybody know, and following that, how to provide some resistance, so tha...

Re: 1959 Corsaro carb tuning
Dave I had a word with the chap at Dellorto, and he very kindly sent me all the specs for Morinis. While I don't have the correct carb for my actual model, it should be close enough. He suggests that at the throttle seetings I was using, the fault was more likely to be with the idle jet and needle. ...

Re: 1959 Corsaro carb tuning
Dave That's a really useful site, many thanks. Unfortunately, the pilot jet won't shift without ruining it entirely, so I might buy a spare, and try drilling it out. Before doing so, I note that the some carb tops as advertised on that site have a built-in choke and lever. My carb top appears either...

Re: 1959 Corsaro carb tuning
Thanks, Dave
That suggests that my main jet is too small, but where do I find the numbering on the pilot jet? There is a filter on top of the float chamber, which has been cleaned, along with the rest of the carb.

1959 Corsaro carb tuning
Just bought a "fully restored" 125 Corsaro, with a Dellorto carb, marked U8F20BS (but the 8 could be a B, and vice-versa). After cleaning the carb (which the vendor tells me came off a Corsaro Veloce), it will only run on full choke, suggesting that it is running lean. Can anybody say what...

Re: Gearbox neutral adjustment
Thanks for the suggestion; the neutral is difficult to find, whether at standstill or moving, or when shifting from first or second gear. I'd welcome any other suggestions. Patrick

Gearbox neutral adjustment
With my 3.5 Strada, it is exceedingly difficult to find neutral, almost impossible by foot, and quite hard by hand. Somewhat inconvenient! All the other gears have perfect selection. Can anybody advise how to adjust this? Thanks, Patrick
