Re: Battery not charging - Regulator/Rectifier problem?
I may also be replacing my regulator and wondering what you decided on. It'd be nice to actually find something that fits the bolt pattern. Any recommendations out there? Some of the guzzi suppliers have actual Ducati units for sale but i'm pretty sure the guzzi puts out way more juice than the mori...

Re: New CEV ignition switch
Hi Toby, On my pre electric start bikes with the original 6 pole switches, the key positions are: A (12:00) Off - key removable B (11:00) Parking lights - key removable C (1:00) Running - key retained The above are all when looking at the key. Sorry but have no knowledge of any of the other switche...

Re: New CEV ignition switch
Hi, From the original Harglo book: 1 =red, 2= brown. This is the main on/off for the electrical system. Connected only when key is turned clockwise to key retained position. 3= green, 4= blue. These are the ones that allow the engine to run (earth's out ignition supply from flywheel) connected only...

New CEV ignition switch
Does anyone have a diagram of the CEV ignition switch? I was going to fit a new one and noticed the back of the switch has terminals that are numbered. These numbers should translate to a color but I cant seem to find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Before you suggest use the existin...

Re: Strada not charging
Paul, thanks for the help. I found a very yellow battery cable going down to the starter relay. I cleaned it up and soldered new leads on it. Replaced the fuse holder and wire. Then added a ground from the regulator body to the neg battery terminal. Also took the starter relay apart and cleaned the ...

Re: Starter relay rebuild
Not sure thats easier for me since I dont know the amp rating, if anyone does please offer up. I set it back best as I could and went for a ride. The starter worked twice on the same ride so I guess i'm making progress. In researching the relay I believe the 70's bmw's had the same bosch relay. This...

Starter relay rebuild
Anyone know what the gap should be between the contact points in the starter relay? I cleaned up some pitting on the faces and appears my gap is bigger than before. I think the only adjustment is to bend the armature back but was wondering if you guys have done this before and what the gap should be...

Re: Strada not charging
Paul, I tried it again with the brown wire on its terminal. Last time I disconnected the brown wire from the regulator terminal. This time I left the brown wire on the regulator terminal, moved the plastic boot up and put the meter clip on the connection. It measures the same as the battery at idle ...

Re: Early 2 piece intake manifold issues
I made myself a tool to get theses stubs out and in, using a nut that just enters in the tube. To get it out one should try it with a warm motor (if posible) or a bit of heat anyhow. With this tool you can do that best when the motor is mounted in the frame to be able to aply maximum force, and it ...

Re: Strada not charging
Hi Paul, I put the meter on the brown terminal of the fuse box and rev'd it up, it shows 12v at any rpm. This was with a fully charged battery showing 13v's.

Re: Early 2 piece intake manifold issues
I called Kathy at Herdan and they had some steel intake stubs in stock. I also ordered new rubber intake elbows from Start Gomma and the bike no longer has an intake leak. Thanks guys!

Strada not charging
Morning guys, is there an easy way to check the health of the alternator charging coils? I'm only getting 12v at the battery when measuring across the terminals at 6k rpm. I pulled out the blue book and verified i'm getting 60v across the 2 yellow wires. Only I cant find 14v anywhere. Then I remembe...
