Re: Fuse values?

I'm surprised nobody has given you an answer on the fuse ratings. I checked my Morini handbook and Blue book and no values. My main fuse is 16A and the three in the fuse box are all 15A which seem too high as it gives no effective discrimination between the main fuse and the subsidiary fuses. I chec...

Re: Return to Strada Spec

We haven't said if the chokes were on or off when the engine was revving it's nuts off. With both chokes on my 3 1/2 revs to over 3000 rpm with the throttles closed. With one choke only it is much better. If you take the chokes out you should see a small round indentation on the rubber sealing face ...

Re: Bottom yoke holes thread size.

On my twin disc 1979 sport the two holes for attaching the splitter support plate on the bottom yoke are are drilled through and not tapped. The plate is held on by two 6mm nuts and bolts. I belìeve the bike was twin disc from new, it still had old Pirelli rubber brake hoses fitted when I acquired i...

Re: NLM Ignition install instructions

After reading the totally unhelpful comment from Bumblebee I remember why I don't want to belong to many motorcycle clubs. Hopefully the following answers the question asked in a positive way. The instructions dated 10/15 give the following information: The 4 wire bunch (longer HT lead) Red red from...

Re: Morini novice

Tried unscrewing NGK SB05F caps and failed. They seem to be glued together so bought the SD01F instead.

Re: Morini novice

NGK SD01F 1 kohm spark plug caps available from EBay as recommended by EV Guru in an earlier post. Seem to work well on my Morini 3 1/2.

Re: FRONT BRAKE Update

For an informed view of the legality or not lighting systems try reading the Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989 which are still the basis of vehicle lighting systems. Later amendments cover new technologies to allow for instance LED headlights on new vehicles. The requirements are quite specific for ...

Re: alternative fork oil seals

I may have read the Arieta catalogue wrong, I think the code for the 31.75mm seal is ARI.078. Best to check before ordering. The complete seal catalogue is on line giving dimensions and seal type.

Re: NLM Ignition

Don't like to contradict other posters, my experience and several others is that the NLM pickup will not work at 0.1mm as stated in the instructions. It will work at 0.05mm ( 2 thou) or slightly less with a faster kick than with the standard pickup. As stated steel feelers stick to the magnets and i...

Re: NLM Ignition

I have made one work. The air gap between the rotor and coil has to be 0.05mm (2thou) or less to get a spark. I got nothing at 0.1mm as per the instructions. I bought brass feeler gauges from RS Components but a cigarette paper (Rizla) should do (about 1.5 thou). The coils can be moved on the back p...

Re: Carburettors

After reading this thread I checked my choke rubber inserts, very deformed, possibly originals. Replaced with Eurocarb special offer chokes (34mm). What a difference, off idle stumble gone, idle very stable and better throttle response. Best value performance upgrade since getting a Carbtune for a v...

Re: First time owner!

If you are in the club I believe there are some copies of manuals in the members only section. If you can't find what you want I have a PDF copy of the 1978 handbook which covers both Sport and Strada models. It is in Italian but it is pretty straight forward to translate, particularly if you have t...

Re: Idiot lights on a '78 Strada and fork oil.

I have a late 78 / early 79 Sport and have the original manual (in Italian) for it. It is an Italian import. The manual covers both the Sport and Strada models. Wiring Diagram is the same for both models as is the position of the lights. There is an inconsistency between the illustration on Page 4 a...

Re: Exhausted

Thanks for getting back with the frame number. Seems to confirm my thoughts that my Morini is in fact a late '78 or early '79 bike. My bike hasn't been restored as far as I can tell, it still has the original Castrol GTX oil stickers and several service date stickers from Italian bike shops attached...
