Re: Swing arm failure
Hi mysterG I have been talking with an aero space engineer friend today and it seems it’s possible to weld our swinging arms for additional bracing and to repair existing ones . I am going to get mine crack and dye tested first just out of interest. Really only bracing with 3mm 620/720 alloy plate t...

Re: Swing arm failure
thanks for posting pics , looks like a catastrophic break as opposed to gradual , which is scary. who is repairing your swinging arm, and how are they going to do it reliably, being a thin wall casting. I did think about seeing if it is possible to add bracing to the pivot points on the arm, let me ...

Re: Swing arm failure
Hi Ogri I have just had a dig around, you might have a thermostat malfunction, its staying closed and not allowing the full flow and consequently the correct fluid level /amount, there is a coolant sensor on the body which will still give you a temp reading but will shut the engine down if it gets t...

Re: Swing arm failure
Sorry to here your difficulties... lets not forget these are ageing bikes now and need tender loving care, they where never the equal of a Honda or early oil heads and need to be checked looked at each winter, being very small production hand built machines with a tiny development budget. lets not f...

Re: Swing arm failure
Hi Very sorry to here this , you have been very unlucky in the failure and very lucky in the outcome. Good call on getting back on the road, they are without doubt one of the best bikes / adventure sport bikes but the hydro forming was an early application of this technique I believe. I am on my sec...

Re: Fault 2128
Just reread some of your comments, if the lights stay on when started and then extinguish when you put the main beam on you have a short in the mainbeam to Earth, have a look at the headlamp mounts and look for and earths to frame, I think there is a separate one. The bulbs are the modern type so it...

Re: Fault 2128
Hi , I sympathise with your frustration, my second GP nearly finished me off with a tick over issue, stick with it they are worth it . Firstly, you need to keep a schedule methodically as to exactly what you have done, move by move this helps to determine and isolate the issue, sounds over the top b...

Re: GP Engine protection bars
Hi all Yes I agree, lighter is better certainly as I am getting older, I have removed the pillion footrest frames, rear grab handles and indicators, made up some new mounts for conventional led indicators much better in my opinion. It’s actually quite difficult to reduce weight, I have tried lighter...

Hi Gordon
I always carry a starter relay with me, as a replacement, the relays are cheap and available from vehicle wiring products.
You say your bike will not start, does it turn over.

Re: Decat and Map completed
You must be delighted, and decent power at the backwheel, hope it feels worth all the expense, I am now finished with all the mods on mine. I always fit dual sport tyres on my big trail bike, previously Avon’s , but supply issues mean I will probably fit the Pirelli Srt dual sport, more expensive bu...

Re: Rectifier
Hi
That’s such a good way to go, I am tempted. The ultimate rectifier has arrived and fitted, I think it is compatible with a lithium
Battery, my bat is less than a year old .
The ultimate rectifier is beefier than the old and now it sits 25mm away from the undertray stays reasonably cool.

Just saw your post, that’s great I look forward to seeing /experiencing the difference, the MTC lads are really fantastic as is TW.
One you have had your cat removed, get it richened up at the bottom end by motohub, another great outfit.
