Marzocchi rear shocks for early Strada / Sport (chrome)

Now sold. Marzocchi rear shocks looking for someone to rebuild them. These were fitted to a '76 Strada and again, similar to a few other items are now surplus to requirement. As can be seen from the attached photo, corrosion has eaten into the springs. About a year ago, I removed one of the springs ...

Strada seat, 1975 - 79. In need of some attention...

Here's another surplus to my requirement item, which I plan to make available for collection at the Stafford Classic Bike Show (20th - 21st April). Alternatively collection from Harrogate HG3 area (or nearby meet up). A 1975 - 79 Strada era seat. The condition is fair and is capable of being used as...

New Old stock 350 Strada double seat

Now sold. NOS 350 Strada double seat. I bought this seat many years ago from Harglo when they were selling off their Morini stock. In practice it was never used, I later bought an identical seat to replace the origional, and so this has been sat on the shelf in the garage (in dry conditions). It fit...

Re: Camel throttle cable dimensions

Hi Morini047, apologies for the late comment here, hope this is still helpful. I recently made some throttle cables for my Kanguro x1. The cables described here run from the splitter 'cylinder' under the tank, to the VHB25BS carbs. The cables are the Venhill universal throttle cables kit* and I cut ...

Re: Avon Trailrider tyres, suitability for a Kanguro?

I have been running Trailriders for over a year and around 7000 Km on a Coguaro. Front 3.00 x21 Akront rim 21” 1.85 Rear 110 80 x18 Akront rim 18” 2.5 These replaced Avon Distazias. It’s my understanding these were 50/50 road/offroad whilst the Trailriders are 90/10. I changed my rear sprocket from...

Avon Trailrider tyres, suitability for a Kanguro?

Hello all, I'm looking to replace the elderly tyres on my Kanguro X1. The Avon Trailriders appeal on account of their bias towards road riding. Replacing the front tyre seems OK for figuring out the size needed (90/90 21). The rear tyre replacement though takes a bit more working out with regard to ...

Re: Front brake calliper pistons (stainless steel)

Thanks all for your helpful comments, and no offence taken P.I., any reference to the great Stevie Wonder is good. Why, he could even pick up one of these pistons and ...'feel the grove'!. ...I'll get 'me coat. As mentioned, the need to sort replacements has been reduce at present. A friend has kind...

Front brake calliper pistons (stainless steel)

Advice sought for the following please; I’ve had some stainless steel front calliper pistons made, to replace the corroded alloy originals. The surface finish on the new ss pistons have fine groves down their length, due to the cutting tool contact during manufacture. Ideally I guess the surface fin...

Re: Elektronik Sachse Ignition group buy

Hi Kamel and all, Am unfortunately delayed with this response but just a quick note to say that I received the Sachse Ignition unit mid-December and although not fitted yet, am impressed by the build quality and supporting documentation. There was a bit of an email communication issue, but once Marc...

Re: Igniton timing differences, Kanguro X1 vs road bikes?

Thanks all of you for your helpful replies. I'm more confident that the Saches system will be OK with the Kanguro (after the 12v change). Thanbks for reminding me to including the transient suppresor. It is a definate must and will be included during installation. The trouble caused when spiky volta...

Igniton timing differences, Kanguro X1 vs road bikes?

Hello I'm intending buying the Elektronik Sachse ignition system at the offer price which Kamel has recently negotiated (see Tre e mezzo). My understanding and reading of the workshop manuals, is that there is no difference between ignition timings between the road bikes, (e.g. 1970s Strada and Spor...

Re: X1 Silencer

Hi Ian, Bit late to mention but will do anyway... I too had the same 'it's a bit too loud' issue with the MM62 silencer. I bought an OEM standard baffle from NLM (the last they had available at the time). The baffle is supposed to be held in place with a locking screw via a threaded pillar on the bo...

Re: Exhaust system balance pipe

Thank you also texaskitty for the good details, There is in the collection of parts associated with the bike, an end section of the original balance pipe. This chopped end section has the slots and holes exactly as you describe and it is good to have confirmation of it matching up. Once the pipe is ...

Re: Exhaust system balance pipe

Hello Ralph,
Thank you very much for taking the time to come up with the measurement. I've bought some steel tube, close to the correct inside diameter. It should be possible to sleve it down after a bit of handy work.

Thanks again, Chris.

Exhaust system balance pipe

Please will someone kindly tell me the length of the balance pipe (mm) associated with the standard exhaust system for a 1976 Strada. It's one of a few items which are missing and last time I enquired with NLM, they have none in stock. My option is to make one up and would prefer to avoid putting th...
