Mazocchi Fork length(s)
The last of my questions for this batch, what's the length of the standard fork stanchions for 3 1/2 Sport/Strada bikes please? The old Harglo manual states a few were 62cm but most are 65cm. There are some NOS 35mm Mazocchi legs for sale at 61cm, 68cm and 70cm of these I'd guess the 68cm ones are c...

Weight of a 3 1/2 engine for shipping
Hi, I've found an incomplete 3 1/2 engine for sale abroad. All the metal bits are there apart from the R/H casing and the ignition pickup cover. It's a pre-electric start engine. I'd appreciate any insights on the weight of these engines. The seller doesn't have a scale, they estimate it's about 45Kg.

Torque setting for engine bolts please
I've searched here, and in the blue book & even the Harglo manual. Others have asked this question, however since it's not been answered from what I can tell, I'll ask: What do you use/recommend for the torque setting for the engine bolts please? And do you use different values for the bolts tha...

Re: Wanted: replacement exhaust thread insert for 3 1/2
Ming, You're right on both accounts. I spoke to Rob at NLM yesterday, they charge £95 + VAT to weld in an aluminium replacement. He recommends allowing a couple of weeks for them to do this given their current workload. This will be the route I'll take if I don't find an option I prefer. Fortunately...

Re: Wanted: replacement exhaust thread insert for 3 1/2
Harry, Thanks for offering a front downpipe. What I really need is to replace the previous PB insert IN THE HEAD. [A new 2 into 1 would be great and something we can follow up on separately.] The previous PB insert was an interference fit in the head, and the interference wasn't enough in this case ...

Wanted: replacement exhaust thread insert for 3 1/2
I thought I'd try this request here rather than in one of the bike specific topics... I've a 3 1/2 Sport that came with phosphor bronze inserts for the exhaust ports. One of them exited onto the M40 motorway (together with the rear downpipe for the 2-1, the exhaust ring, etc.) This was near the end ...

Re: Stafford
I'm aiming to visit on Saturday if my not yet tamed old 3 1/2 behaves itself on the ride up. Yesterday both connectors on the old regulator 344113 broke - they'd been bodged and decided to break on the same ride. Made it within 400m of home at midnight at the end of 40 miles home. Rebuilt it today, ...

Re: 400 pistons
I recently discovered the 350 I bought has the 400 Dart barrels and pistons, the heads seem to be standard 350 heads. When the bike behaves it pulls well, although it's hard to tell what the power actually is as the bike has other issues I've got to finish sorting out first e.g. worn rocker arms, an...

Re: What can we do with worn [out] rockers?
And you've reminded me how disappointed I was to learn that the previous owner of my 3 1/2 had thrown away the old ignition system when he replaced it with the German Sachs one. He admitted he didn't know if it was faulty. What a waste and a pity to see them go to a landfill site

Re: What can we do with worn [out] rockers?
If you buy replacement rockers, I just want to say it would be a waste to throw the old ones away. They are slowly becoming more and more rare... Oh, I agree and plan to keep them and just about any old parts to hand. I've also been buying some bits and pieces I see for sale from time to time. I've...

Re: What can we do with worn [out] rockers?
A recent issue of Strega, no 120, had 4 pages on refaceing rockers with something hard, not sure what as I have not had the inclination to type the entire article into babelfish. Ich kann deutsch lesen. (I can read German) and live about 15 to 20 miles from Reading. Perhaps you'd either be able to ...

Re: What can we do with worn [out] rockers?
Thank you again. I'm learning a lot about what's possible to do. In terms of immediate needs, I will either buy another old set of rockers online (my last set cost about $25 USD equivalent including shipping) or one or two of the ones NLM had manufactured. I'm not confident I've the skills or experi...

Re: What can we do with worn [out] rockers?
Thank you for describing a practical way to restore them. I currently only have a MIG welder, I've wanted a TIG welder for a while so this adds to the reasons for obtaining one soon! Can you recommend which welding rods to use please? Also, I've spoken with NLM and they've had a large batch made (re...
