Many thanks Norbert and Texaskitty for the replies. On balance I think the tank may have more value to some one with a 350, rather than me hanging onto it. If anybody on the forum is interested in it, please PM me.
Happy New Year to all!

Morini tank - which model did this come from?
Hi guys I purchased a 1981 Morinin 500 and it came with a spare tank in a tasteful purple. I sandblasted the finish off to reveal a bunch of Bondo (since removed). The tank is not the same as the 500 so I am guessing that it is actually for a 350..... Am I correct? Does anyone recognize which Morini...

Morini red paint - a suggested color match
Hi I am about to paint the fenders and body work on my 1981 500. In order to match the paint I took a side panel down to my local parts supplier who used a camera to scan the color and suggest a match. The color mix they came up with is shown below and when checked against the panel and frame appear...

That is a great link for the Stator rebuild Ming, much appreciated. I think that I could do this if I had to!

Re: Compression and magnetics
Hi Paul Thanks for the detailed reply, much appreciated. With regard to the compression test; for both cylinders I kicked the bike until the reading appeared to stabilize. The bike will start but it is a real struggle to get it going using the kick starter. Once it runs the bike sounds good, no knoc...

Re: Compression and magnetics
Hi John Looking through the previous owners scribbled notes a few years ago there is mention of a reading of 220 ohms which sounds like it was moving to less than optimal. I am going to check mine today but suspect that it is going to be lower again... Thanks for the benchmark with new windings that...

Compression and magnetics
In order to make sure I have the best chance of starting my newly purchased 1981 500 (with 35,000 km on the clock) I have begun to check the obvious. I did a compression check last night and found that I had 180psi on both cylinders, with the throttle shut. I am glad to see that they were both the s...

Re: Starter motor service and a battery question.....
Thank you John. I wondered about making up some magic potion as well, since I think I need about 25cc's and probably can only buy a 25 litre drum....

Re: Starter motor service and a battery question.....
Thank you John, off hand you don't happen to remember what oil you used, do you?
I know it has to be bronze-gear compatible, but what oil type to use is a bit of a mystery....

Starter motor service and a battery question.....
Hi I have a 1981 500 with a non-functioning starter motor. On stripping it I found it has very worn bushes, worn out bronze gear, a fair amount of carbon gunk and a worn armature. A big thank you to Paul Compton who's very informative video made the strip pretty straight forward. The armature is goi...

New Morini owner..
Hello! My name is Andy Higgs, I live on Saltspring Island in British Columbia and I have just picked up a 1981 500. It was stored in a dry garage for quite a few years, has 35,000km on it seems to be pretty complete. It not running but came with a small bikini fairing and windshield (not fitted), an...
