Camel for sale

Decided to move my Camel along. Approx a 1981 it is a twin shock but with a Grimeca disc front end. Hopefully I have managed to post a pic here, from which you can see it has been reworked cosmetically. This was done by the previous owner - I do have some of the original plastics inc. the tank to go...

Re: Blown seal

Don’t understand. Over filled reservoir is not going to increase pressure and make seals ‘blow’ (weren’t penguins involved?). If this is all it is then as noted here it just needs some of the excess mopping up.

Back on the road.

I used my Camel just once over winter and despite washing all the salt off as soon as I got home it all turned into a kind of brown fused lump. Finally got around to cleaning up, and it started with not too much undue fuss and breezed through the MOT – advisory for misaligned wheels was all. Wire br...

Re: Neutral light

The neutral light on my Camel is the worst for lying that I've ever experienced on a bike. Regardless of it's illumination I always have to release the clutch most carefully.

Re: Hard Chroming discs

Front disc on my 750 Bonneville was chromed and had worn half and half. Gave all of the impression of a warped disc presumably due to differing coefficients of friction.

Guzzi discs are plain cast iron and all the better for it.

Re: Hard Chroming discs

Would they be better just skimmed clean - or are they not resilient enough without the plating?

Re: Electric Start Conversion.

Well that started some further interesting discussion. I can’t really explain it, I just really struggle with left side kicking. I had an Armstrong Rotax (MT500) and had exactly the same issues with that. I’m fine with gear shifting either side, and with usual and reverse pattern, and even a hand ch...

Re: Electric Start Conversion.

Thanks for the positive response and item lists folks. I’ll investigate availability and prices on a conversion. Weight penalty accepted, I have an ongoing issue with my right leg that I’m having to have investigated and I have a strong suspicion that it is all from starting this bike – I stand next...

Electric Start Conversion.

Never mind the whys and wherefores ...

Can folks give me an idea of the amount of work and parts needed to convert my kick start only Camel to include an electric starter please?

Thanks as always.

Re: Kanguro River Crossings

I got misled into running a ford that was somewhat deeper than I expected up on the Peddars Way on my Camel last year. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/687920 There was an awful lot of steam, but the bike went through OK and never missed a beat. I guess it is all just kind of OK. I see you are Suffo...

Re: Grrrr

Thanks for the uplift. I have other 30 year old bikes, and beyond. Typically, I expect to spend some money, fit carefully, and the problem goes away. This last year or so I’ve been battling with two bikes where they don’t seem to respond to treatment; the other being a Sunbeam S7D. That one has been...
