Re: Fuse values?

Thanks very much for that. The spring tension is very high on mine too, so I don't know if a poor connection is a cause - if anything, the one that melted is tighter than the rest. I've replaced my melted & unblown 10A one with a 5A, and my dodgy-connection-inline one with a 15A blade fuse. I'll...

Re: Fuse values?

Main fuse is 16A; the others are (from left to right) 10A (Green), 15A (Brown), unmarked(Black)

Fuse values?

Can anyone tell me the correct value for 350 fuses please? Some of mine are partially melted, but still working, and the values seem very high (one is 16A?). Bike used to have an electric start, but thats long gone.

Bar end mirrors?

My 1980 Sport has no mirrors, I think its time I got some. Has anyone any experience of bar end mirrors? I think they look good, but I suspect they may not be very functional, due to vibration, and being far away and low down. I have standard Sport clip-on handlebars.

Re: Instrument panel options?

Thanks for that - I think I'll get an Acewell. I'm surprised the tacho would over-read by 50% - isn't that just simply measuring pulses directly from the ignition module? I'd have though that would be foolproof. Is the mounting barcket on your Sport a bracket supplied with the Acewell, or did you ha...

Instrument panel options?

My bike has so many mismatched parts that I'm convinced that it is the recipient of all the ugly left over bits from a restoration project on other bikes. Its not quite running yet, but if it turns out that the speedo and tacho work (which I doubt), then at best I'll be left with grubby, scratched d...

Re: Whats this?

Another "Whats This?" please: mounted on the frame on the right hand side, immediately in front of a side panel. Not mentioned on my parts diagram. Or electrical diagram. Possibly something to so with the (long gone) electric Start? Given the lack of connections (one blue earth, the other ...

Re: How to test a HT lead.

I followed Paul Compton's instructions (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWgLYidtHVw) which showed that both my transducers were lighting the bulb, but one wasn't creating a spark (at least not one that I could see). Fitting new HT leads (NGK, 5K) made no difference. I didn't have the skills or the f...

Re: How to test a HT lead.

Thanks for the replies. It did work previously. Last week in fact. Didn't start, but there was a spark on both cylinders. The leads are original, 1980, as are the transducers. I found that at least part of my problem was lack of continuity across the crimped connection. I've got continuity back than...

How to test a HT lead.

Can anyone tell me how I can test a HT lead? I'm trying to troubleshoot a missing spark on my rear cylinder. Thanks to an old post on this forum, I've found that the lead screws out (not glued in like I had assumed). Is there a min/max resistance I should be looking for? In the blue book, there was ...

Re: Sidestand spring?

Sidestand back on now, I used a belt and ratchet around the centre stand to stretch it. I won't be taking it off again in hurry.

Re: Sidestand spring?

Thanks for all the replies.

The clip description makes sense, but I have no clip, nor do I see one in the catalogue. I'll try Pedro's lever method, and I'll ask about the clip next time I'm ordering from NLM.

Re: Sidestand spring?

Does your pivot bolt extend out far? Mine has a threadless end which gets in the way of the spring; the spring has to bend around it, which may be the intention?

Sidestand spring?

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct spring for a sidestand? And if so, is there some trick to putting it in place? Its 10cm unstretched, and I'd have to stretch it by about 4cm to mount it, which is really difficult.
