Re: Carburettors

Having been chasing a solution for a light throttle (trundlling along in a speed limit sort of light) misfire I read this thread with interest. I'd balanced the carbs and throttle cables carefully, changed idle jets and tweaked the idle screws to the best of my ability and couldn't get rid of it. As...

Re: Starter...contact

The circlips and washers were all still in place. About the only things that were!

Re: Starter...contact

So I pulled the housing off and found the problem. 2.jpg Everything was moving smoothly and properly in place when I put it together. The circlips and washers were all still there and all the springs in place when I took it apart. I unhooked it before taking the photo 3.jpg The fragments are rounded...

Starter...contact

The wrong order I know... I have the occasional tinging sound coming from the right hand side of my sport. From the pitch of the sound it's something touching the starter ring on the flywheel however there's nothng nder the right hand cover that ought no to be there. It seems most common when tippin...

Re: STRADA BRAKE PADS-SHOES

I got some Bendix pads from NLM and they squealed horribly no matter how firm or gentle the brake application. I swapped some of the organic EBC ones in an they seem fine (and quiet)

Re: Wanted - 350 Ignition Full Set Pickup, Rotor & 2x Transd

I bought a Nouvaray pickup last year and it was 110 euros plus shipping. It looks just like the original and fits perfectly.

The blue transducers from a piaggio/vespa parts supplier cost around 30 quid each so are much less than the nuovaray ones, or there are chinese copies from ebay cheaper still

Re: Rear mudguard

I'm facing doing a similar job in the near future. One option would be an enamel paint as they give a very tough coating. Chassis Black gives a smooth finish and could be painted over with red if you're worried about the colour. Another option would be a smooth spray underseal and a colour coat over...

Re: wiring

The automotive world has stopped soldering and used only crimping for decades because solder wicks between the strands along the wire and causes a stress raiser a short distance away from the terminal. When subjected to vibration the wire flexes at that point, the copper work hardens and strands bre...

Re: Battery not charging - Regulator/Rectifier problem?

The manual has a charge test procedure. Connect the meter to measure the current going in/out of the battery and read the amps with different amounts of electrics turned om or off and different revs. Don't use the starter obviously!! Mine wouldn't sound the horn at idle with the headlight on for it'...

Re: 350 ignition

I'm running the blue transducers and found the total ignition advance to be exactly the same as the genuine grey ones. No need to even adjust the timuing. A scooter shop in Devon(?) was doing them for about 30 quid each The bike developed a habit of dropping onto one cylinder last year so I bit the ...

Re: Exhausted

The "extension" piece of pipe is there to even up the length of the exhaust headers, otherwise the front pipe is longer than the rear one. It's probably reasonable to assume it doesn't make any difference to the performance as Morini's aren't exactly highly tuned. My bike has armour exhaus...

Re: 3 1/2 Questions!

There are a few variations of left hand gearchange. The factory 'retro fit' used for the american market - not known for it's shift quality! The late (K2?) setup - much improved and a couple of after market versions, one of which goes around the front of the engine My bike had the first one and ther...

Re: 350 Sport: What battery?

The manual says 12V 15Ah. However if you plan to use the electric start then a high value for cold cranking amps (CCA) is needed. Many people like Motobatt as a brand, I recently bought a Nitro fully seealed battery from Tayna.co.uk which was a good fit in the hole, spins the engine over a treat and...

Whereabouts are you?

The "no spark back cylinder" thread has information about what you can do to check the ignition out

Re: No spark back cylinder

So this evening I popped the tank off and replaced the HT leads. Whilst doing so I measured the resistance on the green wire...183 ohms so it's a bit on the low side. The voltage when kicking the engine over was 70 or so according to a multimeter. I used the scope to capture the output and the peaks...
