510 Excalibur
Sadly I have an Excalibur 501 from 1990 for sale. Unfortunately after a no expense spared engine rebuild including possibly the last new 500 crank available, new clutch, all seals, replacement starter motor, new components in the starter clutch, and a few new gears, the oil light came on after 350 m...

Re: Starting after rebuild
Thanks again for the input. Apologies for the age in replying but first the starter motor died and then the starter clutch packed up before I had a chance to play with the jetting. Being philosophical I am glad to get any weak parts sorted before the bike is on the road. Anyway finally with some tri...

Re: Starting after rebuild
Thank you both. So it might not be the throttle slides but the thread in the link was helpful in confirming the step in the ignition advance may give similar symptoms. Another vote for giving this a try. Yes, I will definately recheck the intake rubbers for leaks. They were replaced with new so shou...

Re: Starting after rebuild
Yes, they are connected to a carb balancer at the moment. Previously I tried with them linked by some reasonably stout hose, I had heard that flimsy hose can collapse under vaccuum.
Thanks for the idea though, I am hopeful that it is something simple and daft.

Starting after rebuild
Hi, I have just completed a complete bike and engine rebuild of a 501 New York and am having trouble getting it to idle and run nicely. The bike has been put back to factory settings, so the idle jet, pilot and main are all as best as I can gather standard (thanks Morini NL website). The air filter ...

Re: NewYork/ Excalibur Indicators
Hi Ian Cheers for the reply.I didn't realise that the two bikes had different indicators. The bike is a bit of a bitsa, an Excalibur frame but mostly New York components. Including unfortunately round indicators. If I cant find a round one II might be interested in the four you have. Could you take ...

NewYork/ Excalibur Indicators
Hi,
I am looking for a single New York/Excalibur indicator but will happily buy a pair.
I have 3 good ones and one with a damaged stem . UV has broken down the plastic and I fear that even with an epoxy repair it will be brittle.
Thanks, Mark

Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself
Hi All, I am Mark from Oxford. I thought it was time to say hello. I am in the middle of a ground up rebuild of a New York 501. I confess that the idea was to use the engine as a donor for a special but having got the thing stripped down I really fell for it and couldnt bring myself to break it. May...
