Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

Has anyone ever measured the AC voltage coming out of the green wire from the ignition coil just foot cranking ? Must have a multi meter that holds of coarse but I have heard numerous times that the voltage idling should be 90 volts but what if you cannot even get it running ? I get about 47 volts A...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

Well, I am getting back into this now and I have no spark but I accidently had the green wire in my hand while cranking and it shocked me quite briskly but the spark plug did not , even while holding the electrode in my hand and grounding myself to the frame I get just a tiny click but not enough to...

Re: Misplaced Spark, different igntion setup

I did all of the tests that Evagru instructed on youtube . Lights lite on all tests and stayed lit . I have 50 volts AC holding voltage on green wire but still no spark. I am glad you posted here that 30 was enough . Now I can go somewhere else on mine.

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

Okay , just now I hooked everything up again after checking the boxes with the light and also checking the pickups with the light . It turns on and stays on just like the test on the You tube video . Now just for the heck of it , I took the spark plugs out and held the spark plug electrode and crank...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

I'm stumped , I lost spark altogether when I took the flywheel off and checked out the coil . All I did was to clean the rust off from the ignition coil so that it would not provide resistance . I reinstalled the flywheel and held the spark plug and cranked like mad but couldn't even feel a tingle b...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

Well, now , I am getting about 45 VAC peaking now and a spark. I have learned not to trust the electric starter . I don't know but maybe the battery was just not strong enough voltage wise to get it cranking fast enough even though I did not have the plugs in it but when I kick start it , there is a...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

Well, after doing Evguru's test I was a little disappointed that I could not find anything obvious but then I checked the plug wires just to be sure and they are both zero ohms and seem very solid. Blue wires also seem to be very well grounded under the tank. I will check the AC voltage coming out o...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

Well, I did the test and the light stayed on with a battery first then I tested it with the bike's own red pulse coils and the light came on again and stayed on. I then checked the AC voltage coming out of the ignition coil and it was putting out a pretty solid 35 volts AC after I charged the batter...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

I wish that I could find something wrong or obviously wrong but I checked again the green wire with all disconnected right from the fuse box and I get 208 ohms to ground and while cranking I get about 28 to 30 volts AC on the green wire . I checked again the voltage coming out of the red pick ups an...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

Just for fun I checked the pulse coming out of the red pick ups and got about .320 AC of a volt on both sides while cranking with the electric start. It is not constant but just an intermittent AC voltage that appears every 2 seconds.

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

When I checked this, I disconnected the green wire from the ignition switch but it did not make much difference . I also disconnected the green wire from the boxes when checking the voltage output while cranking. The magnet on the pickups seems strong and both pickups measure the same impedance with...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

One more thing that I found when I removed the red pick up and the magnet just now . It appears that the magnet is rubbing on the top pick up , not bad but you can tell where there is some contact. The bottom seems to be clearing but the top is definitely rubbing . Also , how do you tell if someone ...

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

Okay , you asked me if I was sure that there was no fire so I disconnected the green wire on the ignition switch and then I cranked it with no plugs in the head and still no spark . Then I grabbed the plugs and grounded myself to the head and I could not feel anything in my hand , not even a tingle....

Re: Ignition Coil Voltage

I was wondering if you have a way to test the boxes with an ohm meter did any of my figures above make any since at all ? do they represent a functioning ignition box ? I checked every terminal trying to get an idea . thanks
