Re: new to morini
All these things depend on the year of production and if you have in mind to have a 100% original one (quite rare after all these years!). A foto and frame number would help a lot for orientation

Re: Kick starting technique
If I want to be sure that my 501 starts first kick (or second): the two chokes open, one slow kick without ignition, then looking for compresion, ignition on and a firm kick. Then immediatley one choke off, the second after about 2-500m. Starting a 501 by kicking is nearly impossible without looking...

Re: Lighting circuit problem
Do you have 12 V on the brown cable entering the regulator with ignition on? If not the regulator won´t work.

Re: Best 31/2 cam for all-round flexibility?
The Strada pistons have a distance of 6 mm from the lowest to the highest points of the upper "heron surface" . This distance is 7 mm with the Sport pistons, what makes more compresion. The pistons for the nicasil cilinders also have these 7 mm (perhaps a bit more?) like the sport ones. fr...

Re: Stator Question
Green and white wire should be longer because they go to the central electic port. The yellow ones have a shorter way to de regulator. I still can´t find a reason why one of the yellow ones is marked.

Re: Stator Question
I don´t see any reason for the 1 ferrule on one of the yellow wires, there should be none.
No idea of the part number.

Re: Stator Question
So it will be a "bodyless" stator, with the wire wound directly on the steel-plate-paket. It´s the strongest one with about 200W körperlose Lima.JPG Cannot find a better foto. This one is quite uggly. Only the ignition coil has a plastic body (this one burnt) So probably you also have one ...

Re: Stator Question
A late Excalibur stator should be a Kokussan one.

Re: Best 31/2 cam for all-round flexibility?
When one cilinder is off, you can see with a dentists mirror the stamp on the cam . If there is none it´s a strada one.

No, as said above, it´s a 500 (478ccm) 6 gear bottom end with 501 cilinder an heads plus a L5 cam. The rims are brandnew ones from Morad/Spain bought 15 years ago.

Re: changing capacity to 501
My tuned 500W has 501 barrels, 501 heads, a L5 cam and of course PHBH 28. But as said, these parts are dificult to find and not cheap! This motor will end in what probably will be my last project: a "pensioners bike " with heated grips, electric starter (my fist one ever) and after more th...

Re: changing capacity to 501
It´s not that easy! The 501 cylinders have a 71mm bore and Nikasil-cylinder liners that require special pistons (less clearance) and rings. You cannot combine for example iron cast liners with rings for Nikasil cylinders. The 501 cylinder does not enter in the original 478 cm case. So you have to bo...
