Re: Starter motor clutch shoes

My K2 always started fine with the motor when cold, but hot starts often failed with the starter spinning but the shoes failing to grip (kickstarted straight away). The bike had been restored and the shoes were like new. Tried roughening the surfaces etc. but to no avail. Having read various posts o...

Re: Electric Starter parts needed

I had trouble starting with the old cast type (350 K2) which had newish linings, was OK when cold but wouldn't work when hot but kickstarted straight away. After reading various posts on this forum I bought a set of laminated ones and has been perfect ever since (asking for trouble now!).

Had no joy with Timpsons and so interested in where your local locksmith is. I am in North Lincolnshire, is it anywhere near me?

Re: morini K2

I do not have the specific K2 information which you ask for, but I do have a 1986 K2 and live in North Lincolnshire and you are welcome to call to see it if that would help with your rebuild.

Re: Twist grip replacement

I prefer the black finish on mine, and I suspect it is of a better quality, but they do cost a lot. One mentioned above appears to use separate cable stops and might therefore obviate the need for modification of the twistgrip itself.

Re: Twist grip replacement

I think that the twistgrip that you mention is the same one that I fitted to my 1986 K2 (because I wanted a friction control). The throttle cables were a little too wide to fit and so I drilled out the channels in the twistgrip using a hand held power drill. Worked OK and am pleased with the twistgr...

Re: carb issue

Sounds like my K2 which I normally start with only one choke on, but sometimes use two if very cold weather and then knock one off immediately it starts.

Re: Pulsing rear brake

Yes I have, both front and rear. Thought that you would have left wheel on bike and turned it to test for runout. My fronts made the bike unrideable. Rear was causing a lurching feeling when coming to a halt, but no problem if used at speed when just slowing down a little. Mine had been skimmed by p...
