Re: MDINA Italia club member discount

Just wanted to let everyone know that the service I have just encountered with Mdina Italia has been top class - very helpful in locating the part in the afternoon and the delivery could not really have been faster - next day! Excellent.

Re: 500W carb questions

Sorry to be slow in responding but I obviously failed to post my thanks the other day when I wrote a reply so, very many thanks to all who responded to my query, I will take a look at jetting etc to see if I can get rid of the initial hesitancy when starting off from a stationary position. Good to l...

Re: 500W carb questions

Thanks for your comments Tom, I did not know that the bottom pulley had multiple keyways - I will check to see if I can get it closer. Mark, thanks also for your comments, it would seem that perhaps I am expecting too much form this bike by way of performance? If I remember correctly the Triumph 500...

Re: 500W carb questions

Hi Canuck, I hope that you do not mind my piggybacking onto your carb thread but I am hoping that someone may be able to help with my 500 carb/ignition. Currently my 500 seems to run OK but I feel that it is a bit slugginsh - struggles to reach 95mph and seems to me to me a bit slow off the mark, es...

Re: 500W carb questions

Could the problem be the ignition system rather than carburation? Weak/incorrect sparking could cause similar symptoms - timing may be good but if the coils are not generating sufficient HT then ?????? Just a thought.

Re: SOLD -1981 K1 (Wiltshire)

Well done Mickey, looks like you have been busy over the Covid shutdown period. Hope you sort out the oil leak - you haven't got the ghost of the Torrey Canyon stored in the garage by any chance? Might explain your finding that the oil level in the bike does not go down!!

500 & 350 brake pads

Hi,
Does anyone know whether the brake pads fitted to 350 Sport and 500 Sport models are the same?
Thanks,
Charles

Re: Nissin Brake Master cylinders

Hi Kamel,
Been having a look but deciding which one is a task in itself due to the huge numbers - I would like to get a good second hand one, either with integral reservoir or remote mounting, that has a restrained look i.e. not lots of coloured anodizing - black would be just right.
Thanks,
Charles

Re: Front brake calliper pistons (stainless steel)

I would be a bit wary about using those pistons with grooves still present. I have always understood the pistons to move a little when applying the brakes and then they retract once the lever is released, otherwise how does the brake system work if the piston does not slide past the seal, even if th...

Re: FRONT BRAKE Update

I have a twin disc set up and a 16mm m/cyl piston with calipers fitted with 38mm pistons (I think) so according to the chart that gives me a ratio of 11.28 which is a long way off the recommended ratio of 27.1 With twin disks (and calipers) you have four pistons of 38 mm diameter, so with a 16 mm m...

Re: Nissin Brake Master cylinders

That is certainly my experience - smaller gives more feel but with more lever travel, as one might expect, but in my appplication I felt that the stroke was not sufficient (too much movement to the extent that the lever was almost at the handlebar) for a twin disc set up. I am looking for something ...
