Re: 250 rebuild from bits

If you have a good spark, then as Tom and Mark say, it might be in the wrong place. You could try quickly swapping the pickup connections round. The problem with a 250 is that the unequal HT lead lengths make that less easy. You should get some kind of reaction on just one cylinder that you can swap...

Re: Nlm ignition system

Yes, the pick up does look a bit shakey. To be fair it was fine if you could set it up properly. I was lucky in that Alex set it up for me when I bought it, he had a home made but effective rig to test run the ignition systems, standard or otherwise. Like I said the CDI part works fine still today ...

Re: Best 31/2 cam for all-round flexibility?

All I know is that I found the.cam in my 350 K2 was neither fish nor foul. Never seemed to come on the cam. L5 for me. Works well in the 375 apart from a tendency to a mid range flat spot. Improved by larger idle jets in the PHBH28s.

Re: 250 2C tyres

I'm happy with the Metzeler ME22 tyres I have on the 2C/375. https://www.tyretest.com/web/pages/motorcycle-tyres/metzeler/me-22 Mind you, they are getting a bit long in the tooth now. Still seem good. The Michelin (IIRC) tyres I had on the CB250RS I bought last year turned out to be twenty years old...

Re: Supercharged Morini will get a 250J

All sorts of possibilities I think - short of a 350 lump going in ;) Might be able to fit bigger valves and seats from the 350 (or even 350 heads) if the head castings are the same ? Though may have to 'relieve' the bore to accommodate the exhaust valve in particular. I speed hill climbed a stripped...

Re: Migration of the Dutch Morini Club's website and forum to the MRC

Excellent work Julian. Thanks for coordinating the task. Glad to be of minor assistance. Sorry for being over optimistic about the possibility of merging the phpBB installations. An alternative strategy might be a new section of this forum with a list of links to 'important' and useful topics on the...

Re: Clutch refit issues

I meant the pushrod that the actuating arm pushes. The first one is quite short. You are right though that the mushroom would not move at all if the first rod is absent. At least no ball bearing to lose as on some engines.

Re: What`s your other bike ?

As well as the 1977 Strada I have a 1949 AJS which I've had longer than the Strada, a CB250RSA & A CB250RSD with an inoperative electric start :( . Also a couple of Serows for playing on muddy lanes. Oh and a 2021 MT03 as I've downsized due to short legs and advancing years. Luckily the CB250RS...

Re: Clutch refit issues

One dodge is a slotted spacer inserted betwixt outer cable and adjuster. Or if a real bodger an old socket of just the right diameter. With slotted cable nipples it can be slipped in to place first. Many replacement cables have solid drum nipples though. Sure the 'short' clutch pushrod hasn't gone A...

After these tear jerking replies ( ) I think it would be very rude not to tag along - thanks. I think Julian may well recall the contents of my spares cupboard. Once over Covid ( I have the man version) I’ll post some tempting photos. The problem is the post-B..... delivery costs! <Scans scr...

Re: Farewell

Hello all, this is most likely my last post as I no longer have a Morini and haven’t renewed. I’ve enjoyed my 20 odd years of ownership of various models - Kanguros the most - but time and aching bones have won. To quote from Douglas Adams HHGTG, ”So long, and thanks for all the fish”. Bonne route!...

Re: What`s your other bike ?

I had a 750 Shiver to replace a Voxan 1000 Roadster that ate its big ends. A thoroughly competent machine but I found it a bit lacking in charisma so I swapped it for a Morini Corsaro 1200. Amazing bike but "too fast for rider" so I changed to an ER6n for a while. With the benefit of hinds...
