Just looked at pictures of an early 2c tank a you are spot on Mark. I need to be a bit careful going forward with this to make sure I get what I am after, that is a 500 for restoration. Mark, would you mind if I emailed you to discuss it a bit more.

Thank you both for all your help. I can see how different it is to the tanks above. I might need to get a replacement when I have collected the parts. The one in Italy looks really good so will see if I can join that site.

For the benefit of the original poster, when using the two wire single phase regulators with a three wire stator simply do not connect the red wire coming from the stator.
