Re: Starter Motor Brushes
Hi all, many thanks to Kamel for spotting another potential candidate to fit the Morini starter motor. I ordered a set from France last week and they arrived today - about £15 including p&p and no import duty! They will need a bit of tinkering to fit, but they should do the job without too much ...

Re: Starter Motor Brushes
Hi all, just a quick update... I ordered the brushes identified by Bruce on New Years Day. But the order has not yet arrived and no reply to my emails or telephone calls to AutoElectricalSpares. Looking deeper, Trust Pilot rates them as 2.3 out of 5, and 81% negative feedback... I know, I know, I sh...

Re: Front wheel spacer?
Thanks to John for taking the trouble to check, and Norbert for confirming that the offending item is only a grease seal. Much appreciated!
David.

Re: Front wheel spacer?
Thanks all for your helpful contributions. The bearings on my bike are both the sealed variety, so hopefully as Mark points out that washer is probably redundant now. I see on a close look at the parts book that originally only the right hand bearing was sealed, so that would make sense. Either way,...

Front wheel spacer?
Hi all, I have just taken the front wheel off my 1979 Strada to change the disc (it has cast wheels). This is the first time I have had cause to take the wheel off, so I had a look in the parts book to make sure I had everything in the right place when putting it back together. The parts book shows ...

Re: Starter Motor Problem -
Hi Stuart, recently I have spent quite a lot of effort on getting the starter to work right on my 1979 350 Strada. It now works well, but rather than try to list what I have done it is probably easier to just have a chat on the phone to compare notes. I will send you a personal message with my numbe...

Re: Starter Motor Brushes
Thanks to Bruce for the helpful info, and Ian for the advice. Sounds like the winning combination is to buy the set sourced by Bruce, bring them down to the correct size and modify the electrical connections to fit. Result! HNY all.

Re: Starter Motor Brushes
Hi Nick, I have had my Raptor for some years now and love it. And for good measure my brother has a V-raptor and a Ducati Indiana - which as I am sure you know is in fact a Cagiva in disguise! I occasionally dip into the raptor chapter, but mine has been so well behaved I haven't needed to go there ...

Re: Starter Motor Brushes
Hi Nick, many thanks for checking anyway. The Morini starter motor is certainly a monster compared to most bikes - the one on my Raptor 1000 is barely half the size!

Re: Starter Motor Brushes
Hi Nick, Yes, you are quite right there - but with a bit of fiddling a thin plastic liner should do the trick to make the boxes a touch narrower. Obviously it would be much better have them exactly the right size I know, but in the end there aren't any better choices that I have found. When my exist...

Re: Starter Motor Brushes
Hi all, I have managed to find some brushes that will do the job - as fitted to a Piaggio Ape of similar vintage. The original Morini size for the brushes is, I think, some 20mm long (I have to guess a bit here as mine are worn) by 7mm deep and 14 mm wide. The Piaggio Ape parts I have got hold of ar...

Re: Elektronik Sachse Ignition group buy
Hi, I couldn't claim this to be what is needed on all Morini's, but on my bike (1979 Strada) the flywheel is only marked with an ignition advance mark for the front cylinder (ANT1). It does though have marks for TDC for both cylinders PMS1 and PMS2. So what I had to do was take the starter cover off...

Re: Elektronik Sachse Ignition group buy
Hi all, I too used the PVL coil set and rather strangely I found the best fit (on my 1980 Strada) was to have both coils facing forwards rather than backwards. This seemed to help avoid fouling the standard airbox fitted to my bike and gives enough clearance under the tank. Also, as I no longer use ...

Re: Starter Motor Brushes
Well, not the sort of MRC advice you normally expect... But back at the question of starter motor brushes, you must have a lot more helpful parts people than those I can find! All I get is "sorry mate, if it isn't listed in my catalogue I ain't interested". Maybe I need to shop about! Than...
