Re: Sport badge

Many years ago - couple of decades perhaps - I sprayed a tired looking sport badge red and then wrapped it with self adhesive aluminium foil - taking care on the four corners - resulting in an aluminium ingot. This was polished with metal polish - the result was a bright chrome like finish with ‘spo...

Re: 501 Sport?

Yes - I have one - the engine was originally destined for my 3 1/2 - but the 500 engine needed work and that bike was in daily use - it was popped in there as a stop gap and has not come out!

Re: frame numbers

You are not alone - I also have a 76/77 31/2 Sport with no frame number on the usual plate. Registered in 78 - I acquired it in 93 - it has been off the road for a few years. Do wonder what the DVLA will say when it is re-commissioned. Currently the frame is back to bare metal - no evidence that the...

1. Might be worth replacing with white LEDs rather than traditional lamps. (I know my charging system would not thank me for loading it up - note to self - really must sort that out!) 2. The bezel ring is rolled over and holds the glass in place - therefor will not unscrew. To get behind the glass y...

In the past I recall having to strip an electric fuel tap - not sure if it was on my 31/2 or 500. The moving core of the solinoid had begun to oxidize and it was sticking - quick run over with v fine wet & dry solved this. Think the manual tap is only on or off - but generally I run with both ta...

Hi Keith Just dropped into the forum and saw your posting from last year - welcome! There are quite a few of us in London area with 31/2 and 500 (I have both) - if you get the chance come along to the monthly gatherings at the Windmill on Clapham common - last Thursday of the month. Does not have to...

Hello - I would be interested in taking them off your hands - how much they are worth, no idea - what would you be happy with for them?

Don't you just hate it when you get that as a response!

Happy to collect - I may be in Staffordshire later this month.

Best wishes

Does it have wire or cast wheels - my 78 sport is actually a 76 it would seem.

If wire the sport and strada rear drums are different sizes - strada drum is smaller!
Not sure if this carried over to the cast wheels.

Have you checked the slide heights - perhaps the screw stops are screwed too far in or the throttle cables are not allowing the slide to drop right down?

Blue light should only come on when the main beam is on - check the lamp is not earthing through a rout it should not be. If flashers are fitted they have to work. On a '78 bike you can simply take them of to get it through an MOT. Also do make sure your battery is fully charged as indicators have a...

Hi - the track day was great and the 500 did quite a few miles over those days. As Pete mentioned we both had to leave sharpish on the Friday morning. Between the Wed and rolling back into town on the following Sunday it had done almost 800miles. Not sure it will make it back from work tonight thoug...
