Re: Timing Belt supplier

Pity your 'standard' items didn't work out. I tend to use 'RS' as their stock is dated and seems to turnover. Price is <£4, code 474-9793 and fit my Strada and Kanguro. Both are 'B' though. I'm sure they deal across all postal areas! The P&P isn't cheap if you don't have an account but there is ...

Re: Regulator - OE voltage

The battery on my Strada had given up due to lack of attention for perhaps 5 years and I've just got a nice new AGM one. Hopefully I'll be fitting it soon and checking voltages etc, but I have a query before I do. I seem to recall some discussion on whether the 2 phase 'switching' regulator had a te...

Re: Dijon 2012 - Coupes Moto Legende...

Sounds like you had an excellent trip - and wondrous weather, a real shame I wasn't up to it. Managed to drag myself back to work on 1st June. Terrible timing. I'm looking forward to pictorial reports in ATG.

Re: Melted ignition stator coil

Bad luck George, hard to believe that the coil can burn itself out to the extent of charcoal isn't it? Surely not enough current? Any chance of accidental contact of inappropriate wires elsewhere?

Re: Swing Arm Spindle 1979 Sport

Hi, I used: http://www.triple-s.co.uk/prices.htm for my Kanguro. The delivery and pickup worked well - you can see how they returned the job at: http://kanguro.motoani.co.uk/blog/archive/2004_12_01_kanguro_archive.html Two key things to note: 1. Although they did a good job of masking threads and cl...

Re: Exhaust Removal -Help!!

After PlusGas and heat cycles, I decided the head was more valuable than the header pipe and managed to extract the header and nut in many pieces by careful work with cut off discs in a Dremel. I must stress that this took ages. Well, probably not that much time, but repeated spells of 30min to an h...

Peter,

Yes, I'll send one. That's both magazines allocated then. Still calendars though.

2011 Rebello Calendars

Happy New Year, Missed out on an MRC glorious colour calendar? Well... The Netherlands Club have very generously sent me some of their 2011 calendars - double sided card with antique Morini photos. I'll send one to MRC members if you send me an SAE (Envelope 225 x 320mm with 'Large Letter' Stamp). A...

Re: Work in progress

Looks good, idle seems pretty solid to me. I agree it can be hard to line up the rotor, I tend to look and try to align very well before offering it onto the taper. I suspect my magnets aren't great either! You've been braver than me with regard to going into the garage; I need to do just the same j...

Hi,

looking at some old photos of my 3.5 Kanguro I agree that the banded pickup wire seems to be front cylinder.

Re: Carburettor for 175 Turismo

Hi, Latest ATG will have (must be about to be delivered to members' mats any day now) 2nd part of 175 rebuild article. As Paul and Pete have said, the magazine is member-driven and any contributions welcomed. As the writer of a blog on rebuilding a Kanguro and being the ATG editor I certainly unders...

Re: Kanguro X, what battery? - Found it

Hi, I'm on my second 12V battery in my X1 and have found a pretty neat one: AMP9023 from http://www.allbatteries.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=amp9023 is 12V 2.5Ah valve regulated and fits in the space of the OE 6V battery. Only £11! I eventually soldered onto the spade terminals as access was diffi...

Re: Idling issues

Hi, I'd also be surprised if you manage to get a sustainable 1200rpm idle with stock ignition. Most of us have given up trying to get that. I suspect that spark and fuel/air are all too 'on the edge' to stay correct over any reasonable range of temperature and time. Now I'll step back and await all ...

Reading Pie Night

I’m looking forward to our next event, the annual MRC Meal also known as Pie Night at Sweeney’s in Reading. This will be on the usual 3rd Wednesday – 17th November (the MRC website was incorrectly saying something else) starting at 19:45. To book your seat just call me or Dave Marlow. See you there ...
