Re: Kanguro Wanted

Hi Ktom, I've just picked up your wanted post, and have a 1989 Kanguro that realistically is likely to stay in the garage for a good few years before I get round to putting on the road again.I have had it for about 5 years, always garaged, and it's in pretty good condition. I gather it was one of the...

FT tank and R850 seat - hopefully it'll look okay :!: Perhaps a typical thin 'plank' seat and tail unit would look better (not sure what from, but all I can think of is the Harley XR750, I think!). But the BM seat would be soooooo confortable

V interesting posts, guys! Just goes to show that to convert your bike to a supermoto doesn't necessarily just mean smaller wheels and tyres! Plenty of challenges ahead no doubt, but several already overcome - your approach to the projects seems to suggest that you're both from an engineering backgr...

Thanx for the pic, Robin. Continue with the updates please - I'm sure other Kanguro owners (liked me) will be watching with interest! Are you looking to keep the original tank / side panels etc or just the Morini frame and engine?

Blimey Bruno, it certainly sounds like you are really not very impressed with the new Morini set-up  I say good luck to them - takes a lot of balls to develop your own low volume bike with unique engine in a market awash with comparable, high quality, fully developed bikes and support network....

Thanks for that, Dave  I've just checked on the MM web site and you are quite right! Not sure now where I got the info from - may have been a bike mag Corsaro launch test or just on the net.

Do you know what, mate? I was just wondering about the same thing...!! Only thing is, I've just discovered the answer about the name / displacement anomally. They are indeed producing it with a sleeved down engine - 998cc (or 997 / 996!). Still doesn't quite justify the 9 1/2 name, but perhaps close...

Looks like you'll just have to go then, Harry! I've just looked at the AA Route Finder and it reckons over 5 hours for the journey from the IW. So perhaps not this year.....let me explain: Dave M, you asked for reasons why some members don't go. Well here are my 'difficulties' to overcome (and I'd b...

Two of those sad little faces :( :( demands a reply! But I can't offer you any help other than to suggest you contact North Leicester Motorcycles. Presumably any of the mail order catalogues will show something suitable but 'universal fitting' (try www.busters-accessories.co.uk).

Good luck!

I expect Rob C has already sent a photo of the Kanguro; if not then I'll get some to you when I eventually pick it up (just need Ins Cert to get tax). On a different subject now - I have an '89 Performance Bikes mag with a short test on both the Kanguro and New York custom. They loved both which see...
