Re: Plugs
Hi, I gave up on NGK plugs in the Morini 500/501 years ago due to poor starting/longevity and used Denso plugs from the early 1990s which are far better I use Denso W22EP-U (3085) 14mm thread, 19mm thread reach, projected electrodes and non resistor type with same heat range as the NGK BP7ES Also us...

Re: Tank edging
Although it protects the paint from chipping especially when the tank is off the bike
It also holds water/moisture which is why you rarely see it on most Morinis

Re: Saving the Kanguro from decay
No. One rocker swithces on the lights and has two on positions tail/pilot & headlight/tail/pilot the other rocker switches between hi/low once the headlight/tail/pilot lights are switched on Not that complex if you consider that the off/on/on rocker switches both 6V DC & 12V AC circuits inde...

Re: Rear head removal
The rear head and cylinder on a 500 can be removed with the airbox/wiring out of the way and the piston at BDC
They need to be tilted forward to remove them and it is a tight squeeze; no need to remove engine bolts, cylinder studs etc
Hope it all works out fine, have fun

Re: 500 sport for sale?
Hi Paul, it might be worth experinenting with touring handlebars instead of the clipons?
Although you will need the touring top yoke (or swan neck clipons)
Also touring bars combined with rear sets are even more comfortable; I'm 6' 1"

Re: key cutting Blank needed?
I've found it's often best to say the key is from an older car's locking fuel cap rather than from a motorcycle as often they assume they won't have a blank and not even try/look My loal master locksmith has never been able to help me with anything bike related and also refuses to cut blanks he hasn...

Re: phbh26 carb strip where are all the seals?
The pilot and throttle stop screws O rings and the metal washers often stick together so when you look in the holes it can look like they are missing To remove cut a piece of wire at an angle with pliers to make a barb You already have a parts diagram as a guide and it is always a good idea to greas...

Re: Electric Start 501 cable routing.
Hi Bigred, the earlier cover has a small cable notch at the rear and the later version has more metal removed in the same rear area plus a more restricted air vent arrangement at the front
The earlier version was fitted to the 81 500 sport

Hi Hombre, it's probably best to be guided by kamel's experience with the company
Meanwhile photos of my UK market Camel Mk1 tank
The upper part is fabricated in sections and attached to a pressed steel base which is the same as the road 500

Hi, I would double check that the linkage/lever isn't the problem because of play/adjustment; touching footrest, frame etc or even the rose joint twisting and limiting movement when changing down
Good luck
