Re: Chokes

When I got my poor old tired 500 SeiV I decided to do a bit of a tidy up and to try and improve its running. After I painted the frame and put the motor back in I fitted a set of platinum plugs and removed the electric starter as everything I'd read told me the kick starter was fine. I kicked and ki...

Re: No horn on low revs

You have a few options to try. 1. Clean up all the electrical connections to the horn and ensure the earth return has good conductivity. 2. Put a relay in using the horn wire as the control and a nice big fat fused feed directly from the battery. 3. There is usually a screw adjuster on the back of t...

Re: 501 manifold rubbers

I have never purchased inlet rubbers from NLM so no idea on them. They can probably be repaired but if the material is weak then they may only break elsewhere. How I fix mine: I thorougly clean the break with all purpose thinners and let dry. I use sikaflex auto sealant/adhesive. It is a polyurethan...

Re: 501 manifold rubbers

A couple of years ago there was a post about new inlet rubbers. I purchased a set and they seem fine. I still have Alessandro's email. alexluzzi@gmail.com I payed via Paypal and received the inlet manifolds without issue. You may be able to find the topic via the search or just email him and see if ...

Re: Crankshaft cambelt pulley removal/ replace

They do need to be an interference fit, the key should only be for location. . Keyways are there for a reason. They are the sheer pin of a shaft. Yes the majority of adhesion is to do with contact area but a key way needs to be a weak link to save major mechanical components. Maybe I'm misreading s...

Re: Caliper Strip

What's going on? You tell me, you're the one there and it's your bike. :P My 500 has Brembo F05's with 32mm pistons (one each side so 2 per caliper) and it has 94mm centres from mounting bolt to mounting bolt. So Morini boy do you have a name? I prefer to deal with people rather than fictional alias...

Re: Speedometer Reset Knob

Veglias are also used by Guzzis so nearly any guzzi parts dealer should be able to help. Harpers, MG Cycle, MPH are just 3 US suppliers I can list off the top of my head. Joe Eish is another. Harpers have them: http://www.harpermoto.com/03-reset-button-en.html but I'm guessing its a RH knob. You nee...

Re: Kick starter gear and sprocket help

If you are in the U.S. then try Hermie at Herdan Corp.

http://www.herdan.com/

If no joy there then TLM in the UK. You can google them yourself easily.

You should get quite good at bump starting it in the meantime.

Cheers

Re: Rearsets for 500 SEI V Sport?

Spub, I have refrained from posting before as my 500 SeiV is a RH changer but I do have a set of rear sets on it. I'm guessing you are the same guy as on the Laverda forum. I'm not on it any more and I come here only a few times a year. If you would like to ask me any questions or get me to take a p...

Re: 501 carbs

So difficult to advise on defiitive jetting on any bike let alone one that is no longer standard fitted with OEM carbs. I agree with Paul (guru) above that sorting the 26mm carbs would be a better prospect as long as you aren´t a WOT or WFO type. Riding style and road type has a lot to do with it. A...

Re: Carb Icing

Hi Steve, Carby's work a bit like a TX valve in a refrigeration system. As the fuel is "atomised" (not technically correct but you get the idea) some of it changes from fluid to gas due to the lower air pressure in the carby venturi. They need heat to do this and is is absorbed from the su...

Re: New 500 Sport owner...

oops, I stand corrected. Its my Laverda that has the wet clutch. Not important as both my Italians with a whatever side mounted clutch are a pain to find neutral no matter the adjusting. The guzzis on the other hand seem to be able to produce that little 'do nothing' spot whenever you call upon it. ...

Re: New 500 Sport owner...

Remove the heat shield? I'm not sure how she will go with that. I've got rear sets on my 500 S and it regularly burns through the inside leg of a pair of jeans or melts my textile pants. My shield is much larger than the one in the pic but the 2 attachment points still get hot. I do like loose flapp...
