175 Turismo head bolts size

Yes, me again with a soliloquy about my troublesome 175 Turismo's thirst for oil. Following tobydmv's advice I've stripped down the upper engine and discovered a surprising amount of wear in the cylinder bore - a very pronounced ridge is visible mostly on the rear of the bore which, I imagine, cause...

Re: 175 Turismo oil feed to rocker box

Thanks tobydmv for your opinion and advice on both my recent(ish) appeals for help. I 'll follow your suggestion on checking ex. valve guide wear. I discovered that the oil filter cover screws are M6 thread and these types of fasteners are commonly used in automotive application for holding the brak...

175 Turismo oil feed to rocker box

Another technical query from me with the untried 175 Turismo : having succeeded in cleaning both oil filters, putting it back together and achieved a ridable bike I'm getting a lot of oily smoke in the exhaust. To the extent that black oil drips out of the exhaust/head joint nut once the engine has w...

Re: 175 Turismo oil filter

Thanks for your prompt advice. Following it, I removed the support plate and tackled the cover with an impact screwdriver bit. Both the screws obligingly snapped off below their heads, just level with the turret casting that they screw into ! But I'm glad I opened up this gunge-infested filter chamb...

175 Turismo oil filter

Hi, I'm pleased to report that after many months endeavour I've finally got the engine to run on my 175 Turismo - the first time I've experienced this since I bought it in Italy many years ago. It sounds healthy and I'm keen to progress now to getting it into rideable condition asap. So, first prior...

175 Turismo valve timing

Am progressing with engine work on my 175 Turismo. Does anyone have valve timing info for this type of engine, including the valve clearances to be used for checking this please ? My (indelible ?) marking system has failed on the pushrods : I assume I'm correct in thinking that the exhaust pushrod i...

Re: Carburettor for 175 Turismo

Thanks Pete for speed of response & the benefit of your knowledge. Thanks too for your advice to join the Club. I have in the past been a member of it and found it helpful but my interest in Morinis today is only for the old single cylinder models and a few years back everyone in the Club seemed...

Carburettor for 175 Turismo

Hi everyone I've just joined the group and am looking for some help & advice ! I'm just starting work on restoring to running order a 175 Turismo that I bought in northern Italy a couple of years ago. According to the insurance document it wears it's not been in road use since 1972 so I might be...
