I had to replace the relay on my ‘08 after the bike had not been started for a while.
It did ‘click’ but did not actually make continuity between the big terminals.
Very similar if not identical relays are fitted to many bikes so sourcing and fitting a replacement is not difficult or expensive.

I see what you mean. The hole (or lack of hole) appears to be in line with a screw holding the water pump cover on. Leakdown test didn't indicate anything obvious.
