Tacho and Lucas Rita Ignition

A guy I work with asked me if I had any experience connecting an electronic tacho to Lucas Rita electronic ignition. As my Morinis are all pretty much standard I couldn't help.
He is an electrical/instrument guy by trade so has tried most things himself. Any suggestions?

Duncan, The breather tubes need to be long enough to allow the water and oil condensate to drip anywhere except on your bike or on your boots! If you look at a review picture they tend to run down the frame tubes and end about an inch (25mm for the youngsters!) below the bottom frame tube. The sprin...

I have had the lugs welded on my Strada - they didn't like being bungee points!
For added strength I put washers either side of the lug to give a bit of meat to the mount and welded them in as well.

Thanks for the pictorial clarification Paul!! It is possible to replace the larger seal by only taking out the outer drum/basket leaving the crankcase half intact. The only problem I have come across is that the allen bolts are easy enough to remove but the outer drum/basket is located by dowel pins...

The clutch has got three seals involved with it - the one in the clutch nut that Paul spoke of, the one behind the clutch drum that you are replacing and a large one that seals between the outer clutch drum and the crankcase. The seal you are replacing is seated in this drum and is easy to replace i...

I am also with Carole Nash where the UK and Euro breakdown cover is included with the policy.

As an aside check your travel insurance covers you for riding bikes over 50cc. Most don't strangely enough. I got ins to cover bike travel from Carole Nash as well.

I can't handle all these modern devices!!!! I've only just got the hang of my rechargeable drill!! An air or electric rattler is a good way of getting the drum off but the clutch tool is needed to do it all back up. When I have replaced the oil seal behind the drum I have used a long reach allen key...

Whatever you do don't hang onto the studs!!! They are a bit delicate and need little invitation to go loose in the drum and then it is a real pain to either tighten or loosen the clutch nuts! The only way to get the nut off is to use the approved tool or a fiendishly constructed substitute. Mine is ...

Yes the rotor can leap off with a bit of a bang!! My dad (a fitter/turner - very useful!) educated me on using pullers and extractors like the one used on Morini rotors. He spotted me hanging on the end of a spanner trying to get something to shift with a puller. He showed me that if you wind a bit ...

Morini Treffen 2007

27th Morini Treffen 2007 - Hohenberg Well I made it to the Morini Treffen on the Cogauro - it did me proud but is sounding a bit rough now. Further investigation will have to wait while I catch up on domestic activities that were put aside while I got it going!! Just a quick post - more details as ...

I can concur with all the advice given!! The same happened to me in France though without the cover damage. One for the reference book - some things you never forget - French for woodruff key la clavette. Also the one I repaired my failure with came from a chainsaw.

Back on the Road!!

A good week in the garage this week! Found the reason the battery wasn't charging - the fuse had got hot (melting hot!) at some stage and as a consequence was not long enough to make contact. Simple really. Ah, you may ask, but why did it get hot? Well the old battery was pretty knackered when I cha...

Information

Hi all, I have just bought a 501 Coguaro on eBay. It is complete but has been off the road for a time. I have a 3 1/2 and have rebuilt this a couple of times and have the workshop manual, tools etc but have no info on the 501 engine or the Coguaro. If anyone has any info - books, specs, wiring diagr...
