Re: Rear mudguard
I would clean up and paint (rust remover). Powdercoating can be a bit hit and miss in terms of finish. So if you have a lot of pitting, it more than likely will show through. If you damage it you can't repair it so easily and I have seen components rust out under the coating without it being visible...

Re: Fork seal replacement
It is better to slide the fork seal over the stanchion, while the stanchion is already installed in the slider and best done this way. If you really must install the stanchion into the installed seal, I have managed by wrapping a piece of tough, thin polythene around the leading edge of the stanchio...

Re: Transmission noise
Maybe unrelated, but bought a G650GS once and it did what you are describing. Fitted a new chain and the noise went. Might be worth a try before pulling things to pieces.

Re: rough 3 1/2
Finished for now. The exhausts didn't scrub up to badly, so have decided to leave them for now. just have carbs to balance and centre stand to prep and paint. Had to remove the clutch so I could remove and paint the left engine case. after making a spring nut removal tool from an old chisel, realise...

Re: rough 3 1/2
Had to do a little fabrication for the rear mudguard bracket. Is this a common point of failure ?

Re: rough 3 1/2
Thanks Mark. I know they do a gloss black, but as far as I am aware, it can only be applied to cast iron. Would appreciate if you get a chance to pop in there, even if you can't get a sample, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the metallic black.
Thanks again,
Paul.
Thanks again,

Photograph everything, no matter how mundane it may seem at the time. The longer it's apart the more you will forget.

Re: rough 3 1/2
Have had it done by Zircotec on a T25t. Was a very good and durable coating, but came in a matt finish. May be worth contacting them to see if there is a gloss alternative. Many thanks.

Managed to finish most of the tin work today and fit the badges. Anyone had any black chroming done on exhausts, if so roughly what sort of price ?

Re: rough 3 1/2
hello Ming. Yes it would appear that the NLM tool seems to share a lot in common with crap! After a bit of modification with a grinder and using the collar shown, it then worked and did the job.

Re: rough 3 1/2
Hello Stubaker. The paint was matched to the original colour, however was quite close to a Ferrari red. Managed to get the exhaust ring off ok, once I had made up the collar to keep the tool located. The real problem was keeping the thing in place, as soon as any real pressure was applied, it would ...
