Re: oil dipstick position

With fresh oil I use the folds of my finger. If you put the mark of the stick on a fold of the finger of the other hand, you´ll see

Re: oil dipstick position

I can´t find a foto I´ve made years ago with a bunch of dipsticks with marks of diferent heights. The best way is to fill in 2,5 l, then insert the dipstick and make a (new?) mark at that point. Then you know that that is the minimum > fil in always a little more (about 10 -15 mm). Most dipsticks ha...

Re: Strada top yoke and rear sets.

Has anyone combined a Paioli top yoke from the first Stradas with the lower yoke of a Marzocchi fork?
I think the geometry should be the same and hence possible.
Any coments about that?

Re: Oil leak

That´s true! I think the problem with sticking floats happen much more frequently with the ridges of the "new" white plastic ones

Re: Oil leak

Obviously while parked at least one fuel tap was open and a float valve in one of the carbs didn´t close. That´s the way the fuel gets into the crank case  and it would also happen with perfect segments on the pistons. Up to now I don´t see any reason to strip the motor (at least for that reas...

Re: Sooty spark plugs

I would think it´s more a question of carburation than changing the plugs

Re: Oil leak

Obviously there was too much oil inside.
It´s 2,5 l (if you want a little more), 3 l is too much!

Re: Inlet rubber manifolds

Yes the 500 an 501 manifolds are a bit diferent. On the carb side they should be the same. Or that´s what I guess, being the 26 and 28 PHBH. At least the diamenter of theses carbs to the filter is the same. But the studs in the heads where the manifold is mounted has a bigger diameter in the 501 tha...

Re: Noisy clutch?

If the clutch works properly and you have problems to release the special nuts: leave it like it is!!! (until you realy have a problem with the clutch)
Aplying too much force on these nuts there is a certain risk of loosen the studs in the basket, and the you´ll have a problem indeed

Re: Hard to start

You should put that woodroof key, before doing anything else, because if the flywheel is not in the corect posicion you can not use the marks of PMS and ANT and will loose the valve and ignition timing.
