Camel 501 - Stuck in Gear
Hi All, I've been recommissioning the 5000 mile 501 Camel I brought over from the US and today was the big day to see if it ran after the various works - none engine internal related. When tightening the flywheel nut I put it in 6th stood on the rear brake and click-clicked it on my torque wrench. T...

Re: New Morini Book!!
It isn't a cheap book that is true but I feel it is certainly value for money. Save your pennies or rack up some brownie points and it will be something to sit by the fire with in the cold months. Just to give you a taster of what is covered : Bologna, Land of Motors - covers the development of Bolo...

New Morini Book!!
In the current situation and the cancellation of so many events it is a bright moment when the doorbell rings and a copy of Wim Raeymaekers book Sempre Piu' Forte - The most complete history is socially distance deposited by the postman! It certainly covers everything Morini from day 1 to what must ...

Wanted - Reserve Tap with Float Switch
Evening all. I'm looking for a reserve fuel tap with the float switch. The one in the Camel I'm recommissioning was full of gunk which jammed it up good and proper!! Judging by the fuel that was left in the tank (resembled cola in colour) it had been like it for some time. I couldn't get the float t...

Re: stator rewind
I'll have to get my coil winder working again!! It was headed for the skip when a friends firm moved premises. Wound a new coil for the Kanguro on it then put it on the shelf - a low one as it is a heavy lump! The only hints I can give is to put a layer of polyester tape around the bobbin before you...

Re: fuse box on X3 and other questions.
Hi Steve, The 2 leads from the coils are earths and go to a small bolt on the frame left hand side just in front of the battery carrier. I replaced the starter relay as it was rusted to wotsit!! My starter motor relay is a Durite 100A unit mounted up by the headstock. I used the original cables but ...

Re: Coguaro Electric Start
Hi Tom, I do have an original from my Dart and also a spare bare unit so I've got enough bits to experiment. Regarding the material Nylon 11 is apparently OK for the oily environment my only concern is that when engaged the resultant 'squeeze' from the two rotating create a force on the wedge which ...

Re: Coguaro Electric Start
Not a resurrection of the thread but a continuation after some time!! I have to rebuild the Coguaro at some stage - oil pump drive not driving and it seems to have trashed the big ends. Found the oil pump drive nut was spinning free on the crank. In investigating I found that the NLM ally plate repl...

Re: Front fork colour now the least of my worries
Not an idiot just not looking at the wrong bit!!!
As everyone has said rebuilding the top end is possible with the engine in the frame - just take your time and mind your knuckles!!
John.

Re: Wanted - Exhaust Nut for Kanguro
Interesting about the die/die nut - £20 plus carriage and import VAT etc from China v £300+ from UK ...... If you do get one let us know of your experience. As an update I remembered I had a stache of used bits from my Strada and there was a usable (slightly mangled!!) nut that I tidied up and used....

Re: fuse box on X3 and other questions.
Steve, Good to see you've figured out some of the wiring. A lot of what you listed yesterday relates to the bleeping box fitted to comply with Euro regs. It is designed to bleep with the indicators (green/black and white black), with the sidestand switch and has a connection to the neutral. As you m...

Re: fuse box on X3 and other questions.
Hi Steve, Off the top of my head (without going to the shed as it's peeing down!) - Negative earth strap goes to the engine either to the bolt between the cylinders or the one behind the rear pot. Positive strap goes to electric start relay which is mounted on the flat plate just in front of the rea...

Re: fuse box on X3 and other questions.
Hi Steve, I'm just finishing the same exercise although I made the pile of bits so had half a chance of putting it back together!! Wiring wise I haven't found a diagram but it is not that much different from an X2. Fusebox? No there isn't one - it sounds like you've got all the bits there are! If yo...

Thanks for the reply - if I fail with rectifying the steel ones I'll give you a shout about a used one.
Thanks again,
John.
