Re: carburation issues.
Posting this for reference for other sufferers. The carbs were causing backfire and it did it during an electric start. The resulting backfire ripped the electric start chain apart which then ripped through the side cover and also broke the mounting lugs of the motor! I fitted plastic clamps...

Re: carburation issues.
following fitting the inlet manifold clamp rings the bike is much better but now I'm getting poor throttle action from idle to take up. Can anyone tell me the correct slide for my bike? I think it might be due to the cutaway.

Re: Inlet rubber manifolds
Hi I have found the part number for the plastic collars and ordered from medina. Has anyone got a picture of how they go on. There seems to be a flange on one side.
Many thanks. Hope this solves the issue

Re: Inlet rubber manifolds
Hi thanks for the replies. No I dont have any plastic collars under the jubilee clips. There wern't any when I got the bike so I did not know they were required. Do you have a part number?
I have the 500 part from Medina and not the 501.

Inlet rubber manifolds
Hi I recently recommissioned my 1981 500 sport. After a few runs one of the rubber inlet manifolds split so I bought some new ones from medinaitalia. I am having big issues with air leakage at the head end of the rubber manifolds. Both appear to be leaking air and if I spray some quickstart at the h...

Re: saches ignition maps
Its going really well. Bike starts first time on the electric start.. Ive had major carb issues that are now fixed so im currently on map 5 but im going to look at the others. I tried 4 but it felt very snatchy at low revs but that was most likely the fueling issue. I will try it out over the next f...

Re: Some carb balancing questions
My first thought is that you have an air leak in the morgan carbtune assembly. however Its amazing what can happen when you pull old machines fuel systems around. I had sticking acellerator cables that kept the throttle slide up. Then the rubber manifolds split due to old age. The choke mechanisims ...

Re: carburation issues.
Bits all arrived from medina and fitted ok including the flip top chokes. Amazing! balanced so easily. Idle jet adjustment very easy and roughly the same each side. Adjusted the throttle cables so balanced transition from idle to higher revs. I noticed the idle mixture screw plays an important part ...

Re: carburation issues.
The issues continue. Fitted the new rubbers to the choke plungers ( not an easy job) and the engine ran like a pig. Now no gauge reading at all on front cylinder. The rubber manifold had split. :( . Ive ordered two new manifolds and two flip choke assemblies from medina. My wife will cut up my credi...

Re: carburation issues.
the float height is 24mm which appears to be spot on. Everything looks good except the choke rubber. I will order some replacements and see if that stops the rich idle.

Re: carburation issues.
New cables fitted today. Plenty of adjustment and the slides drop fully down. I am using Davida gauges to balance the carbs. At the moment its very difficult to get it to balence at idle. and even worse as the throttle comes off idle. I started with 1 1/2 turns out for the idle screw but I can screw...

Re: carburation issues.
Hi. Spent too much time finding out its a cable issue. I replaced the choke cables during rebuild but thought the accelerator cables would do until winter. However the front carbs cable is now not allowing the slide to drop fully down to the adjuster screw. So im getting partial throttle on the fron...
