Motorcycles Sales

Post by Emmohaswheelsagain »

Many might not have seen the article recently detailing motorcycle sales both in the Uk and on a global basis. In the Uk not surprisingly according to the Motorcycle Industry Association, Uk motorcycle registrations fell by 26.8% in July. (10,465) and have plunged by 16.8% in the first 7 months of this year. Big bike sales are more resilent but are still down 8.7%.
It is global that the real scary figures are with Yamaha down by 33%, Honda 29% and Suzuki 27%. Last week Ducati slashed production by a fifth or more then 8,000 bikes. American market is particularly bad with luxury bike sales falling by 50% this year. Harley have cut 1,000 jobs and closed four plants. Honda have closed their last remaining plant in the US.
Italian government is offering incentives to boost demand and Piaggio plan to expand into Asia in an attempt to generate sales. Where does this leave Moto Morini? Small as it is can it weather the storm and take advantage of the up turn when it comes? New models may be postponed, we may see when we visit the factory in October.

Just to show how bad it is over here:
Provincewide Harley Davidson, only H-D here is up for sale, they dont have the new bikes for the ride outs we keep getting invited to
There is 1 KTM dealer in the whole of Ireland and 1 Triumph dealer in the whole of Ireland, north and south, other ones in the republic where closed in the last few weeks by KTM and Triumph
