morini clip-on

Post by peter horwood »

Hello all. Is my memory playing tricks ? I seem to remember back in the 1950s or 60's a Morin clip on engine that fitted to the front of a pedal cycle driving the front wheel by friction upon the tyre. Was it a Morini or a Bernini ?

Sounds like a Velo-solex to me, Peter?!

Sounds like a Velosolex to me too. But I've just stumbled across this on the internet: the Morini FM 128, 28cc and 1bhp, which seems to be still in production. Image

I don't know when production started, but there's more information on cyclemotors dot com. I think it's friction drive onto the rear rim, which must be a better solution than the Velosolex engine mounted above the front wheel and driving onto the front tyre. I'm strangely tempted...

Cheers, Mark.

Cheers for that!!-never seen one of those before, I'll look it up-but don't go down that road, these "things" are neither "fish nor fowl!" It is probably made by Franco Morini the one who made all the small "stuff"-I wonder if he regrets getting mixed up with the new venture?
