All Our Yesterdays: name the year

Post by 72degrees »

Digging through my old photos recently I came upon some instamatic shots taken at a Morini Riders Club AGM some years ago . Can you name the year? Were you there?

I was there! It was the year I had my tent stolen, although it was found by the boys in blue some little time later and returned to me, so the memory of the weekend wasn't all bad. Lots of interesting Morini there as well, many of them riding up the A1 from London (and that's a clue...)

Good riding,

Many years have passed since this AGM but my guess is 81.
The venue was The Haycock Inn at Wansford, right next to the A1.
If I recall we had a guess speaker, well known journalist of the time.
Can't see my 500 in the main photos, but plenty on show.
The 350 Strada in the foreground belonged to Mike Dawson.
I wonder where Mike is now?

I remember the one when Dave Minton gave a talk about his Morini trip in to Alaska in 1980. We camped at Ranksborough Hall but I thought I was on the 2C/375 that year (I recall the ride back to the camp site with weedy lights) which would make it no earlier than 82. If I remember correctly we actually had the AGM at Ranksborough one year? In the photo of Arthur's 500 you can see the back wheel of my original 350 hill climb bike, bearing the number 7. That had come on a trailer, which suggests it was 1981. The Elbymoto bike was raced in the 1981 TT by Trevor Wise, so I guess that probably clinches it as being the 1981 AGM. It was good to see Trevor at this year's very well attended AGM.
