Paint?

Post by Ariel »

My Silver/grey 78 31/2 Strada, which NLM kindly 'race-tuned' for me a couple of years ago, now has a rust hole along the seam of the fuel tank and needs repairing and painting. Anyone got any suggestions as to where to get this work done (I'm in Hampshire) and how much I should pay? NLM have suggested £250, which as I may be out of touch, seems a lot.

I have a similar problem and checked out the cost of repair and someone to do it. I stumbled across www.fueltanks.co.uk and rang them for info and they explained their process. They will open up the tank (after purging), repair any holes, refit the opening, treat the tank with sealant and then prime. They can also spray to your requirements. The cost of the process compared well with the cost of a new/secondhand tank. They offered to have a look at my tank if I sent it to them - they have an arrangement with one of the courier companies - for the cost of the courier.

Hope this helps.

John.
