Forum upgrade

You may have noticed the forum has changed.
I have just spent a buttock-clenching evening updating the software to the latest version and converting all the old posts to the new format.

Hopefully everything went OK and no old posts were lost, if they were, then I fear they are gone forever :(

Over the next few days you should see the colours/layout start to change as I get to grips with all the new settings. It should settle down in a few days.

Ooopps, looks like I have lost all the avatars.
If want to re-do yours, click on User Control Panel > Profile > Edit avatar and browse to the picture on your PC, then click submit.

Well, I for one prefer the 'look' of the old forum. It was much easier to see threads with new posts.

If I get email notification of a reply to a thread and click on it I'm asked to log in, even if I've got the forum set up to 'remember me'. If I open the forum from a book mark, I'm automatically logged in fine.

Thanks Paul, it's good to get feedback on how others see the new layout.

This new update has more customisation built and so is more difficult to get right. I can't remember exactly how I had the layout set last time. I have managed to return the user info to the left of each post, changing the colour of each element and finding some clearer icons is proving more tricky.

When I have something ready I will upload it
won't be able to please everyone though.

Hi Steve,

I found the "view posts since last visit rather useful to have an overall view of what had recently been dicussed. Now we still can find them by the colour of the icon, but I miss a bit the general info.

Nothing worrying anyhow, I like the new layout.

Hi Bruno,

Right at the top of the forums on the front page are the links
View unanswered posts • View unread posts • View new posts • View active topics

View unread posts is the new ' view posts since last visit '
