Martin Gelder - RIP

Martin Gelder passed away last week after a short illness. He was well known amongst Morini circles for his much modified 350 Sport on which he attended several MRC track days, and his write ups on the bike that featured on the Real Classic website that he ran.

He'll be much missed by family, friends and the wider motorcycling community.

Go well mate.

That is shocking news. I always enjoyed reading his articles both about Morini's and BMWs. It only seems like the other day I was camped next to him at a Morini rally at Henlow.

Terrible news. Martin will be sadly missed by a great many people. Intelligent, perceptive, wicked sense of humour, self-deprecating and an excellent journalist. It was reading his articles about his life with his 3 1/2 Sport in 2009 that made me realise that my first 'classic' bike would have to be a Morini, so I have a lot to thank him for.

Sad news indeed, it was seeing Martin's bike and having a chat with him at a Snetterton trackday that made me decide to get a Morini

I'm sorry, I spoke to him back in June when he hadn't made it to the rally weekend. He'd bought a Kanguro from me last autumn, I believe he managed to ride it in Spain this spring so at least he enjoyed riding Morinis until very recently. I'm abroad on the 19th so can't join you. @AndrewW please pass on my best regards to his family. And if any of you end up with his black Kanguro I have an original front mudguard for it which I'd been trying to get to Martin at the rally weekend.

The MRC are making a donation to Riders for Health, Martin's chosen charity.
