West Kent International run.

Today was the 33rd West Kent International run, a truly international affair with riders from countries as diverse as the USA, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Netherlands, France, Switzerland etc.etc. When I was riding British bikes I never used to enter because I felt that while I could ride the lanes of Kent anytime I like, it was not fair to take an entry that someone from far away could use, even if the majority of riders are British on Triumph and BSA and the like, I prefer to see unusual bikes Hecules, Zundap, Heinkel, Maico, Sparta, Hoffman, Victoria et al. as well as Gilera, Mondial, Parilla, etc. It was only on becoming involved with Morini's that I realized that the marque was not usually represented and so I started entering, well, today as well as my double drum, there was a 500, and a very lovely Tressette. I am pleased to report that all three bikes did the 100 mile plus route without issue, despite the hail and absolute downpours of rain, good fun despite the weather.

Hi Pete,

Do you have a copy of the route, please?

Mike.

That explains why I kept seeing loads of older bikes in Kent on Saturday, looked like a good turn out and some interesting bikes.

The Coalport hill climb revival this morning was slightly less challenging at 2 miles ;) but immense fun. See other post in 'events'.

Not sure if this will work, it's the route we took, quite good run but not the best I've done, the coffee and lunch stops were not up to the usual standard.

Just saving energy...

The roads of my youf! Ide Hill to Edenbridge, past the Frog and Bucket pub (Spoonerism by spotty teenagers), a great road ruined by mamils.

Nice view from the top, too.

Where are you from Micky? the Frog and Bucket is long gone, a great music pub in it's day, coming up to Ide Hill on my VFR500 I had a chap do a U turn in front of me, cost me a broken pelvis!

I was from the 'holy city' of Hextable, way ahead of the times as most villages have no pubs now! Lived in Wilmington and Swanley but moved away from the crowds 25 years ago.

Some very nice roads all around there.

Mike.
