Relay identification

Post by Dave »

On the Granpasso there are 4 relays under the seat. Firstly can anyone tell me what each one does? I know the five pin one controls the headlights but what do the other three control. Secondly I went on to the Bosch web site looking for relays and now im totally confused. They list " make relay", "open relays", Closed relays" and "changeover relays". All are available in four and five pin format varying from 15 to 120A and in 12 and 24V. The relays on the bike state simply 12 v 20 amp, 4 pin and 12 v 15-25 amp, 5 pin. Interestingly there is a date stamp on two of them 15-01-03 so they were SIX years old before they were installed!!! Anyone care to check the dates on their relays?

One controls the cooling fan - I know 'cos it failed! Streffords changed all 4 as originals (Siemans?) not as robust as bosch. I'd bet that starter motor has one too?
