Just bought a Granpasso 2009 I read about breaking swingarms That is seriously a problem. Are there any innovations or adjustments on that subject?
The broken swingarm thread stops at 2018...

The minimum chain slack has been increased... somebody will probably know what it is now.

I have only heard of one case. Maybe others know differently.

I've read about the chain slack has been increased, but have no faith in that solution. If I read correctly there are about 8 broken swingarms and 13 come out bad from the rüntgen chek, I'm afraid I have to sell the Granpasso, very unfortunate.

I would question why there has been no recall, if the swinging arms were that bad.

Anybody else have any more information? Norbert, as I believe this was discovered in Germany do you have any further information?

Thanks,

Mike.

This was the thread of the swing arm.

The problem is, that we had a server-crash in 2014 and it seems that the rest was lost.

One thing you should look after if there is too much clearence before fitting therear axle. If so, placing a washer (inner diameter 25?) would calm down tension.

I went into this subject in 2016-17 in some depth with the factory and they claimed that the issue was exaggerated and misleading, the issue is known by them but not thought to be significant to recall, that was as far as I could get.
Personally I was a little worried for a while thinking about it, but not at all concerned now, a quick check with a torch from time to time is all I do now, I am not aware of other failures and it would not put me off buying a third.
