I've always thought that the bike stands too close to vertical to make it easy to find suitable casual parking, so I've had the stand shortened by 10mm. Works a treat. Base plate off and ground flat, 10mm off the tube including the existing welding, carefully rewelded in place, taking care with orientation and offset, then a coat or two of satin black.
If you're too scared of wrecking yours, there's even a cheap one on fleabay, on which to experiment!
