Last couple of weeks 1st gear engagement and 1-2 shift has got quite clunky. It always goes in but definitely with a bit more noise and force than the other gears. Same hot and cold.
Neutral and all other gears are as smooth as ever.
Anybody had similar? My bikes got 8000 miles on it. Chain and Cush drive are the originals and I wouldn't say need replacing, although there's definitely play in the Cush (I would much rather it was that then a gear selector!!!)

Mines always gone 'clunk' in to first from neutral, but been OK in to second and thereafter. The bike has done 23,000 + miles, and the earlier Corsaro did 15,000 and the GP 26,000 - none with your problem but all with the above symptom.
Clutch might require adjustment? If there is drag you'd get exactly that problem - just ask any Velo owner...
