Water pump oil seal

Post by backfat1187 »

Hello folks
To repeat a post by Stauch in 2014, I was looking for Part No. M90300005400. The diddy oil seal on the water pump impeller shaft.
I could just put the engine back together with the old one, it's probably fine as I was very careful during disassembly but I'll curse if in a month or two I have to deal with an engine full of emulsion for want of a new oil seal.
NLM, 3x, moto corsa can't help. I can get one from http://www.shop-hsi-custombikes.de/ but it'll take while to arrive and I really want to get the motor closed up in the next couple of days.
I might take it down to local supplier of such things. Surely on a modern metric bike it can't be too hard to get one. The parts list describes it as 'Baduo seal ring 10-18-5/8'. Anyone know what the numbers mean? I thought they must relate to the size but there's no way 18mm is a dimension of said part. It's much smaller.
Would welcome any thoughts
Many thanks all
Jim

Cheers Eddydog, I'm trying to read the numbers but I can no longer read such small characters at such a short distance. Maybe 10 years ago!
However, it appears I was talking complete cr*p when insisting the seal was smaller than the numbers suggested. Having been over to measure the item, it does, in fact, have O.D. 18mm I.D 10mm with a 5mm sealing depth and 8mm total depth. No doubt when I find my magnifying glass, the numbers on the seal will confirm those dimensions.
What a numpty.

It's the same seal as an Aprilia RS 50 or minarelli scooter engine... Repair kits easily available on ebay for about a tenner... Chuck what you don't want away or try and source a seal individually
