Presumably the speedo sensor is an electromagnetic device?
Reason I ask..every spring at service time, I try to shave a bit of weight from the Veloce. I was thinking of some titanium fasteners but I guess the rear disc bolts need to be steel for the speedo sensor to work.
Thoughts?

How are you ? You don't say if it's packed up or not. If it's still working , I should leave well alone. Just make sure you keep the moisture out . At least if it does go tits up , you can wander down to the morini boys down at NLM !!

The sensor is electronic, and so I guess you need to keep those heavy steel bolts...

My sensor threw a wobbly after the last Corsaro Section meeting (it was cold and raining both ways...) so when I was home I pushed back the rubber boot and let things dry out first before putting a little grease around the cable. That looks to have worked, but there is snow on the ground (again) and so I haven't done a long ride out to give it a thorough testing at all speed ranges... i.e.; another excuse to ride the beast from Italia!

When will spring be here?

Sensor is working fine (it's relatively new as the last one slowly deteriorated and eventually gave up...)
I guess I'll be keeping the steel bolts then.
I have to admit at being a bit conflicted on weight saving, particularly on road bikes. On one hand, I love tinkering with the Morini and making lots of small improvements here and there. On the other hand, maybe I should save the cash I spend on Titanium this and carbon fibre that, drink fewer pints of beer, do some exercise and stay out of McDonalds!

Those bolts will hardly save any weight and are also near to the center of the axle. So any weight loss will be futile.
Better save up for some PVM's or similar lightweight wheels






Other options where CNC rear/front alu axles and rear brake holder from the german momo forum, but those are hard/impossible to get now.

Best bang for the buck: a lifepo4 battery

Thanks for the pics. Those wheels look nice. I like too your forks and calipers. Were they expensive? I fancy some radial caliper mounts. More options for upgrades! There's not a huge choice of axial calipers with 40mm fittings.
When my battery finally dies it will certainly be replaced with a Lithium jobby.
I have the ally rear caliper bracket (nice item), are the aluminium axles difficult to get now or just the bracket? I like the sound of those.
I've just fitted some Dymag CA5s. Wanted to use some nice fasteners just to finish the job off. Devil in the detail and all that...
I'll post some pics when I've finished the service and bike is ready for the season.

Front is from a MV Agusta but with custom inner parts from a local suspension specialist.
As the morini axle is smaller diameter I had to use inner bushings, this is no problem.

The radial agusta/ducati marzocchi's are regularly on offer on ebay, for instance. Or a rac 50 - but then I would have to repaint the wheels
