Front end vibrations!!!

Post by Czechcorsar »

Hello guys,,

I am really struggling with the vibrations of the front while light braking.
I really don't know what to do next.

Current status Corsaro veloce 2K18, 23xxx km driven
1. Already swapped old rotors for a new rotors NBC brand + new SBS pads -> no change
- Checked everything is tight, diassembled fron calipers, cleared, new fluid-> no impact
2. Bought another set of the different rotors -> no impact, still vibrations
3. Diassembled complete front end. Changed the old ball bearings for the new set of the tapered roller bearings. ->no impact.

The front end is still vibrating while light braking. When I heavily brake, it stops.

I really do not know what to focuse anymore, but it is so flustrating.
There is no play inside of the forks.
Can you guys please advice what could I focuse on?
I have no idea anymore, my knowledge ends here....

I really do not have any joy from the riding anymore...

Thanks

Exasperating!

This thread may be worth a look even though about a Triumph. Note mention of the wheel hub itself possibly being not 'true'.

Have you checked the wheel bearings?

As the discs are floating did you replace the centres as well as the outer disc? The bobbins may be worn?

The bobbins were so worn on my Gilera Saturno front disc that you could hear them rattling but no brake pulsing. I was able to replace the bobbins. The 'carrier' might be slightly warped I suppose. I see 'PFM' sell a carrier separately (for 05-09 models anyway).

Hmm I did not check bearings, didn't have a reason for that. No racks or noise from inside, spins freely. I have a magnesium rims.
I have changed complete discs including bobbins.
Before instaling a set of new discs, I measured side runout of the wheel hub itself and i was up to 0,03mm.
Contact surfaces were clean.

So i guess my next steps will be:
1. Dismantle calipers and check them again.
2. Buy a new wheel bearings, but my bikes has 23K km so I really don't see a reason for that.
3. Measure each part separately, disc, bobbins, wheel hub for runout.
4. Check once more steering neck bearings, if it is tight enough, but I used same 30 Nm torque as always for tappered bearings.
