Show your bunny then i will show you mine

Post by Tom »

Almost ready: Moto Morini 400cc 'sport'. Installed the well known kit from W. Tritsch and as a bonus mounted 350cc heads with 500cc valves.

Apart from the 's' camshaft, power delivery will be expected the same as the Dart 400 engine, which is from memory a go-er

And ok, quite expensive for such a sight, but who gets the chance to buy an almost original 1st Series Camel, number 12 from only 50 made in fully white with documents and still on his or hers first sets of Pirelli's. Don't expect much trouble with the engine for it is a Moto Morini of course. Sourcing the other parts (like the CEV 198 headlight) will be something else.

Those are the bunny's i will have to do it with this winter, oh yes and a Sbarazzino! 8)

Good Lord, 2020 already? 2016 was the year of this post

Well, i had lots of Morini and other bike relatied things going on, and I did actually finish some projects which were all for fund rasing really

But in the end, the Sbarazzino got an engine transplantation.

I had some very good, shiny and rare parts from Günni from the German La Strega Ital-web.de forum, so i decided to built a new engine for the Sbarazzino.

Along with the Tresette, a 175 Turismo and 150 GT Corsaro, i am beginning to look like a Morini 'Nut' (or is it 'Nerd'?) afterall

Tom,
What gearing did you run your 400cc bike on? I have similar, but it feels like it would pull more than the standard 14/38 gearing.

Hi Pedro,
Bombing your post, sorry! But this maybe of interest. Bought back my 76 Strada last August after a 20 year break. The previous owner had put on a new chain sprocket set. The rear being a 36, front standard 14, the engine has 85k on it and is bog standard so I suspect probably more than a few horses have gone astray. However the 36 rear doesn't seem to harm the overall performance, and pulls well in 5th and even 6th above 4K rpm. 75 indicated is about 5k rpm quite a nice place to be. I've not gone past 6k rpm in respect to the old girl!
I would imagine 400cc's would give more power and importantly more torque! So I would have thought the gearing change would be a good option?
Regards Graham.

Cheers Graham,

I wonder where he got the 36t sprocket from?

That is a point, I was just assuming it was an option. I do have some old NLM receipts, I'll check thru. Sometime.
