hello Ming. Yes it would appear that the NLM tool seems to share a lot in common with crap! After a bit of modification with a grinder and using the collar shown, it then worked and did the job.

I had one that bent too easily. It really needs something quite robust. The NLM tool works ok with easy shifted nuts, but not old onesthat have been on for a while and are in need of 'work'.

Managed to finish most of the tin work today and fit the badges. Anyone had any black chroming done on exhausts, if so roughly what sort of price ?

Wow, looking good !

If you decide to go kick start only, let me know if you sell the electric starter.

Thanks Rossguzzi, sorry, no plans to get rid of the electric start.

Lots of heat makes them easy to remove without damage to the threads on the head. I use a MAP gas kit available from any hardware store or plumbing supply store.

Alternatively how about ceramic coating.

Have had it done by Zircotec on a T25t. Was a very good and durable coating, but came in a matt finish. May be worth contacting them to see if there is a gloss alternative. Many thanks.

I am near them, I will see if they have a sample of:

Endurance Metallic Black™ (incorporates an attractive metallic look). This coating is our preferred choice for a more modern look. It’s metallic finish looks superb on most modern road bike applications.

I am going to re coat some 250-2C pipes which are the original heavy duty double skin ones. A satin or metallic black would be fine for me.

George Lane had an RMS 2:1 recoated it cost 200 pounds, not sure which product he used but it looks good,
though not a shiny as black chrome.

Thanks Mark. I know they do a gloss black, but as far as I am aware, it can only be applied to cast iron. Would appreciate if you get a chance to pop in there, even if you can't get a sample, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the metallic black.
Thanks again,
Paul.

Had to do a little fabrication for the rear mudguard bracket. Is this a common point of failure ?

Haven't seen that before, but both my bikes have had one of the indicator brackets break up. Worth checking yours while you have the welding kit out.

Finished for now. The exhausts didn't scrub up to badly, so have decided to leave them for now. just have carbs to balance and centre stand to prep and paint. Had to remove the clutch so I could remove and paint the left engine case. after making a spring nut removal tool from an old chisel, realised they would not move. However, got out my lead welding set and warmed each nut up individually and found them all to come off with ease. Hope this is of help to someone.

Looking very nice. And some very handsome stablemates lurking in the background too :)

Look forward to seeing it at some point
