There must be a way to fit an after market device perhaps with fabricating the casing in some way. Anything is possible, just need the time, money and the expertise. Perhaps with all that It will get to the moon and wake up the little rabbit.
Having ridden it, it does all that it says on the can for an adventure bike.

George, I'm sure the only difficult part about fitting a starter to the 501 will be where you hide the battery. It will need to be a much larger 12volt version than the standard tiny thing. A lot of these modern hi-tech batteries look promising as they have plenty of oomph and can be a lot smaller than older lead acid types. They can also be mounted in odd positions that will help you find a home for it. The original starters fitted to stradas etc should be reasonably easy to fit (ok, I've never actually tried it) and must be worth the effort, as you said the bike is pretty good when you get it started!

The cam belt is fitted, frame back from the coaters, kick start fitted and working after looking at Pauls Youtube methods, so she is well on the way to being on the road this Summer.

I have rebuild my 125H in my bedroom... pulled it out of there when I had to put oil and gas in :mrgreen:

It's in the utility room, I've been allowed as it gets me out of her way. The Famous Garage of MG fame is being used by car people so I'm out on a limb now.

I see that the whole of Europe has a Gasprom-lem.

OK here she is minus seat, which is at the covering company and the muffler, which has dissolved. So close now, all I need is the muffler.

the muffler is a hard one... years ago I found (the last?) original muffler at Hermys (USA)
do you have the header? I have one laying around but that has been shortened about 40mm by the previous owner to fit a Zündapp exhaust.. :shock:
would a 3 1/2 muffler fit? I can check as I have a 3 1/2 muffler dangling above the workbench, if you want I'll give you the measurements for the connecting bolds (can't fit in a 125H as I sold mine a few years ago)

That's lovely George.

I saw an almost new one in Bergerac, SW France back in 1977. We were in a motorcycle shop asking for 3 in 1 oil (those were the days - innocent Brits abroad...)

I bet you're dead keen to ride it now that you've got this far - good luck with the muffler search!

Thanks for the support Chris. Even my Chris loves it, in fact It may tempt her back riding alone again.
I agree that it's a little beauty, so light and so we'll made, a charmer.
I have ordered a muffler from Italy so should have it within 10 days. I have brazed up and soldered the old muffler, painted it black so I can use that to try her out. In fact may just use that one till it perishes completely.
Have a great trip in Italy, I would like to have come myself. Going to the TT again with family.

The forum is invaluable, more than likely it keeps the marque going as well as it does.

My little one is ready for an MOT.
I had the seat done by MR Leighton in B'ham. Just the job.

Got the message today that it is now on it's way. Took some time but I now hope it will arrive when I get back from the TT.

The muffler is solid now I've fixed it so I will use it until it is total or if I show it next year at the Scottish show.

Yes it's a little beauty, took it out to make sure all is OK today, runs well. 6 gears, amazing! The used pillion footrests from some obscure Kawasaki arrived today, so I can book an MOT. Transferred the bike to Christine so I hope she will resume a little jaunt here and there. Best look out for a 250 for myself.
