250 twin advice wanted

Post by budgie955 »

Hi All
I have acquired a 250 2c twin and am looking for a wiring diagram for it, specifically how the 3 wire alternator (2 yellow and a red) wires up to the solid state rectfier that came with the bike. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Red wire to battery+, either via a terminal in the fuse panel, or direct.

Yellow wires to the terminals on the regulator marked "Giallo". The regulator should also have a brown wire, switched via the ignition.

Do you mean the connections to the original Decatielettronica regulator (as described by Paul - I think), or a more modern regulator?
I have a Boyer Bransden 'Power Box', the connections to which are: 2 yellow to the ac input and leave the red isolated and tied back.
I may have a wiring diagram, I'll have a look.

I have a solid state rectifier, the original is missing. Is it supposed to run a dual voltage system? The battery is 6v but all the bubs are 12v.. connecting the 2 yellows to the rectifier is putting too much voltage into the battery, risking damage. Any thoughts guys?

Thanks

The alternator for the 6V 250 is the same as that for the 12V 350, the voltage output is set by the regulator. It sound like someone has done a 12V upgrade.
