3 1/2 Strada for sale in the USA

Post by Tanshanomi »

I found this 1981 Strada online. I have no connection to the seller, and I have no idea if the price is reasonable or not from the ad. "Needs work" could mean anything. But, as rarely as Moto Morinis come up for sale in the U.S., I thought I would pass it along.

Unfortunately, I'm in the Midwest, over 2000 km away as the crow flies, so it's not a very practical purchase for me to pursue further. And this particular model would not be my first choice. I'll just keep looking.

It's not the color. I've really had my heart set on a 500 Sport for a long time.

Just ran across this ad for a 1984 K2 in Texas. $5800, with 8,300 miles on it.
Very tempting, but the more modern bodywork isn't quite what I've been daydreaming of all these years, And boy, are the asking prices on these things ever climbing over here!

There was an '84 with colors opposite to that one at an estate auction near me, for $2500. Had 24k miles and was not in the best of condition - the top of the tank was caved in, presumably from something falling onto it.

I've ridden a few older 3 1/2s - a '75 Sport and '79 Strada - and in my opinion, my '85 350 K2 is a much more real-world usable motorcycle. Sure, it might not look quite as classy as the older ones, but still draws lots of interest and compliments every time I ride it.

There's an auction coming up in Michigan, selling a '78 500 Strada w/33 miles on it.

Body work is merely clothing. Alternative bodywork has been offered for these bikes since very early on. A great deal can be made to fit.

You wrote what I was thinking. If not "probably" then definitely the furthest developed.

Even more tempted yet?

And when you're riding it, you don't see much of the bodywork anyway.

It looks as though this same bike was offered for sale in 2012 & 2013 for $4500.
It's had 45 miles put on it over the last 5 years.

Buy it until the one of your dreams comes along - the saying is that "you either only ever have one Morini or you never only have one Morini". (It's like Marmite here in the UK - you either love it or hate it...). And if the prices are rising, it's like money in the bank - just don't tell those closest to you what you paid for it unless they really understand you...

Good hunting,
