3 172 Tank mounting

Post by pgoo »

Hello All,
I have a 3 1/2 Sport, which has a tank mounting different to any I have seen. The tank, insteda of bolting on from either side, has a mounting on the inside edges of the tank, which slides over two round rubbers mounted to the frame. All looks original, just that I am wondering if this was a short time mod, as there are so many diferences between the same models / years.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks. Paul

I have a 500 tank like that...
Doesn't fit on the 350, but wouldn't be too hard to make it work.

These are later style 350 tanks, I think from 1979 on or so

Thanks to you both for the info. My 3 1/2 is down on the log book as 17.08.1978, so must be just at the start of change over of mount.
